Troy Walters is interim coach and really wants the full time job. If Sumlin goes there, would he work to keep Walters, or will Troy head to Lincoln with Frost??? I do not want Walters on the Nebraska sideline helping them win!!! Hope Sumlin does not go there and they choose to hire Troy and let him continue to run the team the same way. Troy is the coach in waiting someday for Stanford if Shaw ever leaves.

Was it Sumlin who fired Walters at Texas A&M?

Troy is a nice guy and smart. Hopefully he learned Frost's offense thoroughly as did Frost from Chip. He might need more time as an understudy in that offense to even be a full time OC on his own.

Head coach at Virginia Tech University. He should be able to leverage up to a top shelf job in a year or two.

Kinda different scenario. Udub had an opening they needed to fill. MM doesn’t. I agree that he needs to shakeup the staff, but uncertainty right before signing period could hurt the class.

Waiting until we have to pick up scraps is going to hurt the program a lot more than letting go coaches that don't recruit will hurt this class. Other programs are making changes just fine. And honestly, it's a major dick move to wait until a kid has signed to fire their coach.

Thank you. I have no idea why people think waiting to fire coaches until after prospects have signed LOIs is somehow the "right" way to do things. I cringe every time I see that as a justification.

Our roster is better right now, BUT, Frost scares the hell out of me in 2-3 years after he gets out and starts recruiting hard. We should beat them this year and next.

Not really worried about the last two games in the series.....gotta focus on the first two. That's also a rebuild-especially if he's going to bring an Oregon type of Chip Kelly offense over there. If there's good news to that hire for us.............that game now won't get banished to BTN like Michigan did last year.

Not sure what your fascination with Walters is...........Chiaverini (say what you want about the performance of his unit this season) is an upgrade.

I thought of that too. Do you think we would leave the Eagle to come back to college as an OC? I thought he was still with the Browns, which would have made it more likely I think.

Maybe he would, maybe not, but probably worth making the call.
 
Chip Kelly inherits a QB that is made for his offense. Frost will not not from what I can tell. That's a big piece to winning early, which is also a big piece to recruiting hype. Lose big for a few years in Lincoln and momentum will be lost.
