2018 Defense

D. Taylor could have a major impact for the buffs at buff backer. Interested to see how Lang (2017 red* shirt) performs (I think USC offered) and praying to see this Oklahoma recruit live up to the hype. Biggest question mark for me is CB ability as well as LB/DL depth.

Eliot concerns me, our lb core depth concerns me but most of all the DL.

Is edwards going to get in playing shape? Will mulumba play like he did last 3 games? Antwine or mustafa going to help?

LB are callier and sparaco going to break out, are they ready to make more plays?

Lewis and gamboa are what they are. Taylor and landman should help.Need a guy who can consistently cause Qb's problems, juco or callier ready?

Lang redshirted.
If he was ready, that would help a ton.

Let's say it was a tough year for the D-Linemen last season and that they will rebound next season. If so, the Buffs should win more games in that case and perhaps maybe win the conference championship.

Mulumba played pretty good last part of the year. Someone said it here that most jucos MM has brought in really played well the second year.

Key is edwards, don't know who would fill his spot.

I think you can expect Mulumba and Tuiloma to be much better. Both got their first tastes of real football in 2017 and both improved a ton. I expect more learning, and a new voice to help. Edwards is an enigma. Would love to see Franke come in at 295.

Also - see no reason why Antwine and Lang are not both in the rotation. They should be big enough and they are talented enough. They shouldn't need more time IMO.

Having antwine and lang ready to go in the rotation would be big.

Your thoughts on fami?

Depending on how 2019 recruiting goes, I actually expect the DL to be significantly better than this coming season.

I feel like there is some depth there for 2018 if Umu makes it back.

DT: Malumba, Antwine/Umu (Hopefully)
NT: Edwards, Tuiloma
DT: Tuiloma, Franke, Lang

If Edwards can get his **** together, get in better shape and use his size/strength combo it would go a long way to cover up some of the deficiencies in the linebacker group and allow guys like Taylor and Lewis to really show their athleticism. If Edwards doesn't develop this offseason though it seems like a 4 man front could be the way to go with Malumba, Tuiloma, Franke and Sparaco though.

Our new DL coach has Spring and Fall to teach Edwards about leverage, let's hope it works out.

Lang and Antwine should be a lot better in 2019 than in 2018. Same with Johnson and Umu (assuming he's back). Throw in the DE types like Sparaco who could be DE size in 2 years. Roberts, maybe. I'm kind of thinking they should move him to OT since that's where I liked him coming out of HS.

I think you're right. But so much depends on whether Tui & Sami develop at NT.

Okay depth, but it only works if you actually play other guys than just the starters. The defense will not hold up if Drake insists on running the starters into the ground like Jeffcoat did.

Did Antwine enroll early? Thanks.
