AZ players have come to CU over the years, in some cases some really good players. And Vegas, right Mtn?
But yeah, this is something @buffaholic and I have been on the same page for awhile. Lots of talent. Easy flight to Denver. Play there every other year. And most importantly, the players leave the state in droves.
Wouldn’t we play there every year? Or do we visit ASU and UA at the same time?
that is more than I expected, but it isn't surprising that there is a lot of football talent there. A ton of CA transplants continue to move to AZ. Plus so many professional athletes from just about every sport retire there as well. Coach Bernardi was ahead of the curve - ha ha ha . . .I was thinking that AZ puts out about 10-15 P5 players a year. There are about 40 +/- P5 players coming out of AZ in the class of 2020. I am glad to see CU taking AZ very seriously in recruiting.
And Vegas, right Mtn?
Still willing to die on that mountain I see.Yeah, love that Vegas pipeline. Soooo many great Buffs from Vegas.
Prove me wrong. Still waiting for that amazing recruiting haul for CU coming out of Vegas.Still willing to die on that mountain I see.

Las Vegas now has about 2 million people all within 30 minutes of the airport. They have seen the same massive migration of people of Pacific Islanders and African American descent from the Los Angeles area as has Phoenix. This has been going on for sometime now, dating back to Rodney King riots, if not before.Yeah, love that Vegas pipeline. Soooo many great Buffs from Vegas.
I think a better question is why we can’t seem to recruit Vegas better. What’s keeping us from having better success there?
Questioning Vegas as a recruiting target locale doesn’t make much sense.
Only a couple programs consistently produce legit P5 talent there, and those programs are recruited heavily from a national perspective. Far more competition for a smaller pool. Plus a lot of kids transfer to BG from Cali schools and have a national recruiting mindset (think Tate Martell), which doesn’t typically include CUI think a better question is why we can’t seem to recruit Vegas better. Certainly, not in the same numbers, but still, in massive numbers. They have been putting out about the same number of P5 signees recently as the entire state of Colorado. All of which takes 1 day to recruit all the key high schools.
The fact that we've put in a bit of effort over perhaps one recruiting cycle in the last 15 years probably has everything to do with lack of success there.
The Vegas suburbs are exactly like the Phoenix suburbs. All the kids want to get out of the area, and either play at the Beach or the Mountains. Both are culturally hip and cool, compared to their disparaged living hells. Unlike AZ, there are no home-town P5 schools. But like Zonies, surfers and snowboarders are so much cooler than they are.
Of course, all of this has been pointed out several times to you, but you remain fixed on your initial position, much like you hold onto certain other opinions on another forum, despite all facts presented to the contrary. You keep being you!

I am still waiting for that list of Vegas kids who have contributed at CU.
You’re making an argument that it’s a waste of resources going forward because there is little success in the past. Truth is, the last staff didn’t make LV a priority at all. Sure, they threw out a few offers and hosted a few guys, but that’s not recruiting the area. If they actually dedicated the resources there, you would see it paying off, you know, just like dedicating the resources to LA and GA are right now.B. S.
We have put recruiting effort in, we have had multiple visitors. To say that we have put in "a bit of effort over perhaps one recruiting cycle" is patently false.
I am in no way saying that there is not talent there. I'd love some of it to come here. The fact is though that we have limited recruiting resources and the idea that we are going to go in and spend "one day to recruit all the schools" is a bunch of crap. Yes we can do fly by visits but for your information we have been doing that already with nothing to show for it.
Yes the Vegas kids want out but so far, and including the ones who have come here to visit, they have selected to go elsewhere. The national kids to the national schools (ND, tOSU, etc.) or to California, the next level goes to the coastal PAC schools.
I am still waiting for that list of Vegas kids who have contributed at CU. I can easily make a list of AZ kids, CA kids, TX kids, even kids from areas much further away.
If the coaches were to prove me wrong I'd be happy, I just want quality players but this fantasy that recruiting Vegas is an easy boost to CU football so far has been a big zero. Prove me wrong!!!
Who played at CU before any of the current recruits were born, proves my point.Mike Pritchard.
Don’t confuse that post with me agreeing with you. I was simply providing a take about the reason we haven’t had success there, that is separate from the “effort” reasoningBingo, until we are winning something they have plenty of other options, which they take.

Show me the facts that we tried.
Show me why a LV kid would pick Michigan State when he could go to Boulder.
