2019 Football Scholarship Roster

This is all before Hambright has seen the field for the Buffs. Ray came out of Spring as the starter at RT. There’s just no way Hambright is on the bench.
Would be a shock if Hamrbright isn't starting within a few days of the start of fall camp.

Would also be greatly surprised if Sauvao is a center.

Pre-season depth charts are almost meaningless. They are rarely going to write in a newcomer. They often will demote someone of list someone at a position to light a fire under the guy they actually expect to be in a position.

Nothing incongruent with the info from CU and what you posted. I was expecting Hambright at LT so was mildly surprised to see Sherman slotted at LT meaning Hambrigjt at RT.

Their profile links has everything to do with what happened after spring ball. That was before CU knew Hambright was 100% here. I'd be absolutely shocked if Sherman is there after fall practices.

Sherman has more starts at LT then Hambright does. I never understood why Sherman wasn't seen at least an option, and after the off season he had. He's earned first shot with the first team.

I don’t really care which one is at LT and which one is at RT. Hambright needs to be at one of them, though, unless he can’t play, which I find highly doubtful

He did play there last year and all of spring, so that is true. It just seems like the staff wants him inside as a guard or on the right side.

Does it? I get the opposite feeling. The staff wants to keep him at OT (left or right) and everyone else wants to move him inside.

Either way, sky is the limit for him IMO. Finally at a good weight too.

Hehe, why would his team bio say that he will probably start at LT if the staff wants to waste him at guard? It seems pretty common for people to conflate board chatter with coaching intent.

If Tackle recruiting was where it should be, he would be a Guard, but if putting him at LT/RT makes the OL the absolute best it can be, then that’s where he should play.

In the big picture, he is probably the most talented olineman cu has, so doesn't really matter where they put him.

The last staff did talk about him playing inside and probably will be his position at the next level. I don’t believe Kap has made mention to this though, so you are right.

He may be better suited for guard but you play your five best to make the best OL possible. Other than maybe Hambright (we don't know since he hasn't practiced or played here yet) who do we have that is better at tackle?

Tackle is a more important position to have talent at because it blocks and protects the edge. If we had a bunch of great tackle prospects Sherman would likely be a guard but we need him out there.

I always thought that Jeromy Irwin would have been a better guard than tackle. Multiple draft sites projected him at guard in the pros. In college he stayed at tackle because we didn't have anyone else. A lot of NFL guards played OT in college, including Risner with the Broncos.

If Frank Fillip takes the next step, i.e. in the size department, that could allow Sherman to move inside.

Or he replaces Hambright.

We could see it eventually if Fillip takes one tackle position and Wray becomes an early starter. Not holding my breath but if we could land Jeffers that could also eventually push Sherman inside.

I now it has been discussed at length before, but I took a look at the roster for the first time in a long while. Allow me to say we have exactly jacksquat in depth at DT and CB. That is all.

I checked the OP to see where we had Luckett. Apparently I had never moved him to WR as I should have at the start of camp. But with this week's report that he's now also working at CB, I think we're going to find the table had him in the right spot all along. He could legitimately earn a starting CB job over the course of this season. We need him there and I suspect that it's also his best chance to get to the NFL.

Just moved Sauvau to the DL. I'm guessing NT as I'm skeptical that a 310 lb OG is going to be doing much DE type stuff.

I'm skeptical about this one, but one place I am confident he can help is in short yardage or goal line situations. Remembering his film, he does fire out quickly and aggressively with good pad level.
