Other Games Thread - MBB & WBB

I think Vandy was nice while it lasted. They're still up, but the last 4 minutes has been a highlight reel of Kentucky blocking shots and getting fast breaks.
Yeps. They aren’t gonna keep up. Kentucky athleticism is fun to watch.

Dayton came out screaming hot and gap has closed a bit. Hope they can roll a blowout still.

It's a weird season when I'm less surprised about Wake Forest being up 20 on UNC than I am about Dayton being up 20 on Rhode Island.

Hard not to appreciate Virginia for being incredibly elite at what they do. Beat a Notre Dame team tonight that has a ton more shooting & scoring ability than them. Defense put a vice lock on the Irish to win 50-49. It took a blistering 3-2 domination in OT to pull it off.

One of the things I love about the college game is that there are so many different ways to play winning basketball and different teams present such different challenges.

UVA's defense is crazy good this year. Diakite is a hell of a college player, too. I'd love to have that guy on CU.

I didn’t see the Dayton-URI game tonight, but saw the highlights. Obi Toppin is very good as we all know, but I’d just like to point out that the lead highlight of his dunk in transition tonight was definitely a travel. You can’t pass the ball to yourself.

Also, get off of my lawn.

Hard to believe but the bball conference ACC is looking at 4 tourney bids. Could be 3 if Virginia stumbles.

And the espin fave $sec is on the road for 4 bids, at present.

Clemson taking it to #5 Louisville 29-14 with 2:29 left in the 1st half
Went into half 31-14. Let's hope they can hang on. Louisville will mount a comeback at some point and they'll score a lot more than 14 in 2H.

Lot's of upsets in the top 25 today. Louisville, Texas Tech, Butler, LSU, and Illinois all lose. Auburn and Houston both behind in their games.

It's one of those years where the Natty is up for grabs. I haven't seen a dominant team, really. Whoever gets hot, at the right time, will probably cut the nets down. Of course, tourney play is different. If I had to pick a team right now, I don't know who it would be? CU has a puncher's chance at a run, I haven't seen enough for a title. Hopefully, I just B_Walked them into one. :D

And Auburn and Houston both go down
Providence up 25 -5 over #10 Seton Hall edit: Hall loses. That's eight upsets in the top 25 so far today

I love the way UVA plays with their methodical sytle and how they dictate the pace. A team like UNC wants to run yet here they are in a 55-52 game with under 4 minutes left.

64-62 Hoos. That's probably a pace that was in between what each team prefers.

I can't get over the fact that a Roy Williams UNC team is 10-15. Never thought I'd see the day.

Nice win for UCI at Hawaii to finish off another great Saturday of college hoops. Last 2 weeks have been special.

Upset watch continues. Temple hanging with #15 Villanova. Temple up 28-24 with 1 :44 left in the 1st half.
Edit: Temple pulling away in the second half. No upset forthcoming.

#21 Iowa down by 6 to Minnesota in the 2nd half. Edit: Iowa survives 58-55

Not really expecting it but I keep waiting for San Diego St to falter. At Boise St 2:00pm 5.5 underdogs. They have a chance

Boise trying to hang around in this one, down 10 with a little under 8 left

Iona won. Every little bump for a resume is a good thing.

This ASU-Cal game is already annoying me. Refs need to let guys play, especially when it's the 2 stars going at each other. Cal's Bradley and ASU's Martin each have 2 fouls with almost 10 minutes left in the 1st half.

Also of note is that Danny Hurley has UConn starting to turn the corner (similar to Cronin at UCLA). Good coaches tend to find a way to utilize the talent they have, cover deficiencies with scheme, and get buy-in from their teams that has them playing their best basketball at the end of the year.

UConn took down Memphis today. That's 3 wins in its last 4 for UConn and they are starting to look like they could pull one of those UConn specials to win the AAC tourney & bust someone's bubble.

Sitting here watching the Utah at Oregon game with a number of thoughts.

First though is that Oregon killed them in the first half but if we had gotten this second half Oregon team we would have won by double figures. Ducks played their very best game against us.

Because of this if we get the Ducks at some point in the PAC tourney us winning depends more on us than them. If we don't do stupid things with the ball we beat them home/away/neutral.

Second is that Krystoviak (sp) has been a very good coach since coming into the league but this team isn't very good.

Also at times watching Utah they look physically like a high school team. Jones is a good guard but he looks like a HS freshman and a couple of his teammates have HS aged faces while Oregon looks like grown men.

Dude. They were up 14 at half and then coasted to an 18 point win over an overmatched team. Their defense is rounding into March form now. Oregon is a legit contender in the Dance since they may have the best guard tandem in the country with Pritchard & Duarte.

That said, CU matches up very well with the Ducks and I'd like a shot at them in Vegas. UA's the team I don't think we match up well against.
