Bret Bielema - NY Giants OLB coach, former Arkansas HC

I’m not in favor of Bielema, it I honestly don’t care if the next coach sees us as a stepping stone. Every job is a stepping stone. The NFL could come calling and Swinney, Orgeron and Saban would all take the call. That’s the reality of the situation.
Not sure Swinney or Saban take a pay cut to go to the NFL, they make more than only a couple NFL HCs.

Agree with your overall point, but I think Swinney has like a $50M buyout so that makes prying him away, even for an NFL job more difficult.

This. CU fans need to stop acting like jilted lovers. Get the best person you can find. If they do well and leave you’re in a better spot. Otherwise you end up with coaches like Embree, MM, etc.

I will say that his name popping up as a possibility has caused me to realize EB would be quite nice in comparison. So now I'm totally on the EB train, so Bert has that going for him at least

If Dabo, after all he's done at Clemson, wanted to take an NFL job I don't think Clemson would stand in his way and insist on the full buyout being paid.

I like the name recognition he has plus it'd be a nice little PR boost if we gave him the chance after him getting passed over in 2 NFL hiring cycles despite interviewing for multiple jobs sparked some racism debates.

I just need to be convinced he learned his lessons from his previous stint at CU and that it's not all just Reid and Mahomes in Kansas City.

I think I'm just not going to get those questions answered until he's been a coach here awhile. If we find ourselves down 55-7 at halftime vs Fresno St, the answer is probably a negative.

But the ceiling is much higher with EB than someone like Bielema or some of the other names. The floor is also total disaster, so there's that.

I've seen a lot of posts questioning whether Bielema can recruit.
