2020 CU football season POSTPONED until Nov 6th?

I guess it probably makes sense to play both QB's this year and have a real competition in spring 2021. I think bowl games are going to be very limited and you might as well play both and see what you have with live action. The worst thing we could do is play someone 99% of the time like we've been doing unless that player is just head and shoulders better than everyone else. That comment certainly makes it sound like Lytle is the QB and Lewis will come in for a few plays here or there.

But it doesn't really make sense. No one's losing a year of eligibility so it would make the most sense throw Lewis in to the fire to live & die by it. That gives us 5 years of Brendon Lewis vs 3 years of Lytle and we've seen Lytle in game action. Not good.

And we’ve seen Lytle in spring games. It has NEVER looked good.

Lytle has not played enough to give a judgement. Also, QB depth is a real, live thing in many programs. The "let's go with the one guy for the next four years" strategy has not been great for CU.

Agreed. However, as I said, I can see a reason why you play both. Live action is live action and they need to see what they have with both. We've seen very little of Lytle and none of Lewis. At least initially, you play both and go from there. Either way, Lewis needs to be taking majority of your snaps by the end of the year.

Also, I don't think Lytle is the QB of the future or of now. There is a reason he didn't ever replace Montez and I am not sure I see the light all of a sudden going on in year 4.

True, what we have seen from Lytle, in his defense, is him getting in poor reps because Montez was hurt and he wasn't warmed up or anything (e.g Utah in a winter storm). Who knows maybe he could surprise us. Definitely agree on the QB depth portion, but I think with where we are it makes sense to start with Lewis. Then if we can get some real prospects in the QB room going forward, and someone beats out Lewis in 2 years, I'm all for it. I just know from what I've heard about Lewis v Noyer/Lytle, the talent difference is strikingly obvious to teammates.

Outside looking in, whoever wants the job can have it. I think Lewis at the end of the day. Meaning, it's up in the air.

Not just about someone beating the top guy, it is about having a competent (at worst) second stringer to step in when needed. Expecting a starting QB to stay completely healthy for multiple seasons at 12 or more games apiece is just stupid.

Sad to think that the last time we had a competent second stringer was the Cody Hawkins/Tyler Hansen days.

Edit: Nvm, Sefo and Montez was competent.
