Lytle Gone

The RB problems we face are the problems top programs face each year. That's the least of our issues IMO. I'm done second-guessing Hagan after the studs he's produced for the last 7 or so years. I've not been a fan and I've eaten plenty of crow. A healthy situation would suggest we lose at least 1 player who's played considerable snaps.

In all fairness Lytle has never prepared like the stater for a full week of practice, but I can't think of one time he's come in and looked like the man and made us truly question why he isn't starting.

Today 2/5 for 9 yards was one of his best performances. Let that sink in.

By all accounts he's a good teammate, great student and all, but it's time for him to find a better situation. Hopefully he can find a great FCS opportunity to start back in California and earn his Masters.

The counterpoint being that Hagan is really good finding his #1, but struggles in building depth. The top programs have real depth, not numbers.

Pulling lytle today cost us any chance at coming back.

Not having him next week could be quite detrimental as well.

I hope you're all good with a true freshman who couldn't beat out a guy who couldn't beat out a backup safety.

Noyer gets dinged next week - or is more hurt than was let on tonight - and we're ****ed.
You must have inside knowledge to have that much faith in a kid who hasn’t really shown anything in his 4 years on campus.

Our offense scored only 14 points today and our defense gave up 28 points in a quarter and a half, but Lytle could have made the difference? OK.

3 different HC felt he was not our best option at QB, but you know better.

I can think of 3 scholarships that I wouldn't care if they transferred. 1 I would be a little bummed, but understand. There are 2 I would be passed to lose. Then there is Dion Smith, I don't know how I feel about him.

We had a clear #1 a couple months ago who missed most of the season to injury but had been beaten out by a guy who nobody argues is a #1. Mangham has been serviceable, but is a clear #3. And Clayton shows flashes of being a co #1. That's 4 guys plus he seems to think Joe Davis is better than Mangham. But all said, #'s is not an issue here. We got holes but not at RB.

I give Hagan props and I've not been his biggest supporter.

edit: and I'll remind everyone what we all thought about the wasted scholarship that was Broussard, the 3rd down pass-catching RB! He is everything but that.

We don't have that many good RBs. It is on Hagan to whittle it down to the clear top three.

Gotta fight for it, but not super confident in Hagan to do it. Something looks wrong with Mang Mang, and Davis just does not have it.
Neither one of those 2 should even be in the conversation. Nor should either of them ever enter them game.

Can't possibly have anything to do with the fact he was thrust into the game, playing excellent and got yanked for a 50% Noyer who couldn't throw to save his ass.

Hard to say I'd want to stay and get shafted again
I agree. It can’t possibly be because he got yanked. He’d made his decision well before that.

I have the inside knowledge that lytle was moving the ball just fine, and they put Noyer back in to go 0-6 with 1 rushing yard.

Obviously not right, couldn't throw the ball.

But at least we had davis in at the same time, so he could rush for no yards, when Brou was averaging 5.7 per carry, and lytle had just run for 15

Lytle went in for 4 plays - he handed to Brou twice, completed one 4 yard pass and ran a designed QB run for a 1st down. That’s nice and all, but that’s hardly enough to say he was “playing excellent”.

And when they did put him back in at the very end he completed a 5 yard pass followed by 3 straight incompletions, so...?

Heisman!

1 of those coaches
though Noyer wasn't good enough to see the field, and 1 thought he should play safety.

Not sure I trust those on their "qb assessment skills".

They also thought montez was so good that no other qb ever needed to see the field. Ever. At all.

You are trying too hard. It could have been Lytle the starting QB and Noyer the backup QB and you could say the same thing about Lytle like you said with Noyer.

I wouldn't be saddened if both are gone after this season.

I don't care which one it was - when one of them is broken and the other one is playing fine, you don't replace the 2nd with the 1st.

So no actual reply to the content.

Good look.

Keep accepting mediocrity. Hide your head in Chiv's ass.

We could have guaranteed ourselves a bowl game with a win. Now we'll be in the standard buff position. Hoping for the scraps from the conference, begging and pleading to be relevant again.
It’s Chev.
