2021 Offseason Thread

As too many plays showed this year, his defense was boom or bust and often depended on one guy being great for it to function. And, he didn't recruit. Could things get worse? Sure. But this is an aggressive, power move. Not used to seeing that from CU coaches.
Please don't call it a power move until we see the replacement.

Interesting move and maybe an indication that KD wants to upgrade. I hope so. This would really help my perception of him and RG if they spend at the appropriate level and get a real upgrade. Maybe we will have other changes on the offensive side.....one can hope

For as well as the defense played early on in games, they were quite bad in the second half against UCLA and Stanford, even with Landman.

Also, why should KD keep a mediocre DC that he didn't hire in the first place. He's the Head Coach and needs to be given the freedom to assemble his staff. Weird that so many here are opposed to this.

Can we go poach Antonio pierce please?
He just got promoted to D-coordinator yesterday so... probably not.

Also, I can't think about Pierce and Ryan Clark without getting mad. Watching your favorite NFL team develop quality role players and then just dump them for trash is very frustrating. I'm still not over it.

He isn’t calling plays though, Marvin Lewis is.

Was there any indication he had upgraded the roster going into his third?
You stated he was responsible for the lack of talent and depth on the roster THIS season. I am asking how that is so, since he was hired on 12/13/18. So the only players on that filed that he would have recruited would be from the '20 class.

He was either not a good recruiter or refused to do so. Either way, he has some blame to go with his defensive issues even if it was just a couple seasons.

Stated above, but I'd like to see KD start using some of what Herm Edwards has been doing at ASU. Bring in an older coach and pair him with a young up and comer who can be groomed but can kill it on the recruiting trail.

I've seldom been as wrong as I was when I mocked the hiring of Herm Edwards at ASU. He's got a recruiting department that looks like an NFL personnel dept, and he's building an amazing staff with the mentor set up you described.

That seems like reductio ad absurdum. Fired for having too much energy, eh?

Reports are he's prickly and hard to get along with. His defense is also really complicated and takes players years to become proficient in. This news comes as a surprise, but if we end up with an NFL retread, I'll trust Dorrell's judgement until proven otherwise... after all, we had a lot of success with NFL retreads in the past.
No evidence to support that his defense is "really complicated" given the numbers of young guys who were stuffed in there the last two years and did just fine.

Partly responsible, which he is.
