Gophers open as 3 point road favorites against the Buffaloes.

Shockingly, the total is 53.5. Already have a few maxes on the Under. This game should be a slug fest with two teams who struggle in the pass game, but really can run it.

Line flipped.

Y’all bet CU as well? Or they get line backward.

I think u50 is still a good play.

Not a problem. I’ll take my questions to the gambling thread

I’m personally sick of all the fairy tales you spin on this site. At least if they’re confined to dedicated threads I can bypass them.
I redact my previous statement. @manhattanbuff Do you have more gambling advice or intel you’d like to share in this thread? I’m sure we’d all enjoy some easy money tips. Thanks in advance.

He said 6 wins. I said 3-4. I already have a lot on under 5.5 before the season. Unless you’re laying -200, betting on 4.5 doesn’t seem to make sense to me.

???? I am an advantage gambler. You’re asking me to make a bet that’s worse than what I already have. I’m on the record that this is a four win (not including forfeits) team. They have a cap of five. If you wanna lay a price on over 4.5, we can have a conversation. If you’re trying to scam me out of 3.5, you’ll have to find a different sucker.
Take a look at the bolded in his first post. Yeah, it frustrates me that every Saturday when you and I cheering on the Buffs and hanging on every snap of the ball that Manhattan has a financial interest in the Buffs not winning the game. He is incentivized to actually root against the Buffs. I think that is bull**** and to me would take any joy in being a fan of a team completely out of the equation and reduce every game you would watch to just about cash.

I mean, his financial interest in the Buffs not winning the game doesn't actually affect the outcome of the game. Nor does it affect me if he wins or loses his bet. I don't see him posting things that insinuate he WANTS them to hit the under as a fan. To me, it reads like he took the line that he thinks is a smart play. If he started posting statements that were clearly incendiary towards others about how he WANTS this team to hit that under, that's a different story.

Personally, I've bet the over on the Buffs W/L every season the last 6 years except this one. I didn't bet the under because I personally don't want to bet against CU on their win total. But especially pre-season before we saw this team against A&M, that looked like the smart bet. So I get it. Idk if it gets under your skin maybe ignore but it doesn't affect the team in any way so I don't see the issue.

Where did I ever state that I believe it somehow affects the team? I don't believe it does at all.

What it does is make me think Manhattan is a ****ty fan. And how can you say "I don't see him posting things that insinuate he WANTS them to hit the under"? He admitted to placing a large sum of money on the Buffs not making a bowl game this year. So of course he wants them to hit the under. Otherwise why would he even place the bet?

Meh. I'm sure Manhattan can separate his CU fandom from his gambling positions. I think his position on CU's season win total, however, is colored by his closeness to the program--as is most of ours. I agree with you that most posters here are too pessimistic about the season CU is going to have, but that's understandable because 1) we've only gone to two bowls in recent memory and 2) the unremitting negativity about the coaching staff here, especailly regarding recruiting, leads to unwarranted pessimism.

I know, I'm not saying you think it affects the team. I'm saying it doesn't affect the team so why are you letting it dig at you? Like NYC said, I'm sure he separates his fandom from his positions. He might be a bit upset if he loses the gamble on CU's O/U this year, but he's a gambler and losses happen. You can't really think he wouldn't be excited if CU were to get past that O/U and make it to a bowl

To your last sentence, I think he would dislike the impact to his wallet and his ability to tell us all "I told you so" a lot more than he would enjoy the Buffs going bowling.

In my opinion, it's a complete sh*tbag move to bet against your team. There are a million bets he could make week-to-week that wouldn't affect his rooting interest at all.

Weird. Real gambling where one wants to make money over time requires a lot of dispassionate research. I could see a gambler being confident of his take on a program he follows closely because his research is already done--I question the dispassionate part, though. In any case, someday manhattan will take the over based on what he thinks about the team--will that make him a good fan?
