How much room do we have to sign new guys? Didn't I read that we are just now at 85? This is what happens when everyone gets an extra year but the NCAA enforces the 85 max number. We haven't had much attrition the last two years.

The # we are losing is not the story here.

Losing Rice and Gonzo are just part of the new deal that y'all signed up for with NIL and player transfers without repercussions. We are going to lose our best players here until we are playing for important championships.

Losing Mehki Blackmon and Perry are more concerning to me as they are not leaving for PT or likely big steps up.

Other than that, most all of this attrition is pruning. No issues with it. We need to sign some guys, but how many scholarships are left? I'm guessing a few.

It was my understanding that, as of the Dec NLI, we hoped to sign an additional 7 or so at the Feb NLI. We have lost a bunch of scholarship players since then. We have to be far under 85. But aren’t we also capped at adding 25 in one class (and we signed 18 or so in Dec, right?)

I may be way off, and I’d love to know where the numbers really stand.

Posted today at the same time as the news that Kanan Ray had entered the portal. Per Howell, we are currently at a projected 83 scholarships for 2022. If we want to load up from HS or the portal, we will need more to enter or just leave school.

Transfers don't count to "this class" cap of 25, they count to the class they originally were part of. IIRC. I used to know this **** inside/out when I gave a damn.

He was listed at 295 but seemed smaller than that. Just a guy who never got big enough to play at this level maybe?
Agree, however with how bad our OL coaching was this last 2 years, do we have any idea what kind of talent we have on Oline?
Those kids were definitely not coached up to their potential, in any way shape or form!

We’ve had one of the smallest P5 OL for years…seems like we always avg about 290-300 per player, and the rest of the P5 schools are around 320. Does anyone know what our training table consists of for the players? I’m guessing Ramen and rice cakes

I wonder if Ray was the “deepthroat” guy on Reddit a few months ago? Can’t gain weight if the food is how they put it, “ass”

I suspect that the 83 number is due solely to the fact that "putting your name in the portal" does not automatically equal "has left the program."

If every CU player that has put their name in the portal leaves, we're going to be well under 85.

I don’t think that is true. Others elsewhere follow this closely. It’s either 83/84. Basically with a couple of exceptions, it’s lose one to gain one territory.

Except we never want to be at 85 prior to spring or summer. There are always defections and we have more than one kid we can grey shirt. KD needs to get some transfer OL guys in and if that puts him at 88-90, then fine.

“Projected “ has to include subtraction for those in the portal. Howell has basic math skills.
