Which non-Seniors are we losing?

Oh I agree completely that talent is an issue. I’m just saying the attrition isn’t the end of the world like it’s being discussed. They will be replaced, but it just remains to be seen if Purcell and Rays of the world can be replaced by better players
It is end of the world if it's not replaced with serviceable P5 quality talent. I personally don't expect that to happen. I expect the outgoing transfers to be backfilled with G5 and FCS level talent. I fully believe we will see Embree era talent levels not this next year but in 2023 if the trend continues. I hope I'm very wrong.

22 players in the portal and still at the scholarship limit. I guess maybe KD could have went light on the 2022 class and then filled more with portal players? Would that make people feel better about things? I am really trying to understand why people are mostly upset with the attrition? Outside of about 6 of the players in the portal who are either starters or good depth pieces, this is all good attrition.

I think everyone is seeing the high portal numbers and think the sky is falling. This is completely necessary and doesn't shock me at all. I am actually a little perplexed everyone is so up in arms about it. Ultimately, you can question whether KD can improve the roster (I highly question it) and he is the long term solution, but the method of roster turnover should not be questioned that we are currently seeing.
I think people are "freaking " because we are not adding.

We were 4-8 last year. Who is transferring, outside the players I have already acknowledged as being bad losses, who were legit P5 players? I guess that’s the part I’m struggling with. Every player announcing a transfer is being viewed as “Brendan Rice” rather than the “Joe Davis” they actually are. Yes, the staff needs to replace them with at least an equal player, which I believe they will do.

I count 76 on that list.

I really think the currently reported "projection" of 83 scholarship players only "projects" transfers out if and only if they've already found a landing spot.

So gonzo is -1, but the player that put his name in the portal only yesterday is not - and won't be until he commits somewhere else.

Bottom line is that if every CU player whose name is currently in the portal actually leaves, we're screwed.

Again, screwed how? Which losses outside of Rice, Gonzo, Blackmon and maybe Perry are such catastrophic losses? They will be at 85 scholarship players and there will be multiple transfers. Calm your tits

Seems like you are drinking the 247 koolaid. Have you been hanging out with Maximus or whatever the hell is name is? We have lost our top players, plus decent depth, and not added any talent back. I understand that you believe we will be fine, but what makes you think we will land quality multiple transfers? I am not buying it, but you are much closer to this than most of us it seems. Oh, and my tits are completely flacid at this point.

"they will be" is a loaded phrase.

My bet is that the only way we enter two camp with >75 scholarship players is if about half of the CU players currently in the portal don't find better landing spots.

I have every confidence we'll finish fall camp with 85 scholarship players. How many of them tried to transfer and failed, or were walk ons who "earned" scholarships remains to be seen.

I have stated that the overall roster talent is a separate debate, but we talked for a while on this board about nobody giving a **** if anyone transferred, outside of a few guys, yet here we are continuing to freak out over a part time OL starter who wasn’t very good and Colby Purcell. I’m just saying that this roster needed an overhaul and a 4-8 team has a lot to purge. And yes, there will be multiple transfers before and after Spring Ball

I think your assumption on the numbers being reported is false. You’re going off big bangs numbers rather than Adam and Brian

We have 83 scholarship players without the transfer portal guys in that #. BB2 didn't list specialists and do you really trust him to list everyone?

We dropped below 85 and haven't added 2 is the worry some part

The issue I see is that while Joe Davis is most certainly a G5 level player, I have a hard time believing every player we lost that was not a legit P5 player, will be replaced with someone that's likely a very low G5 or FCS level player. Whether they come in as a depth piece or have to start due to lack of guys (defensive back/o-line) going from an average G5 to a low G5 or FCS level player is a significant difference.

Need to offer 4 NDSU lineman to transfer to CU and see if they can compete up a level. They absolutely destroyed MSU in that FCS title game. Also need to hire whoever is coaching those boys up. They turn 2 star kids into low level NFL draft prospects regularly. Imagine what they would do with mid 3 and low 4 star kids.

This would mean that the team remains the same. Outside of one year of recruiting by Tucker there has been basically no high end talent brought in KD or Tucker's predecessor. I would read that to mean KD is an at par guy for CU which should mean 4 or 5 wins/year.

You can't really make that conclusino at this stage. We don't know if any of the players KD have recruited will turn out to be a high end talent. Some have flashed. What we do know is a bunch of recdruiting rankings. Wasn't Carson Wells a 2 star?

My suggestion would be that if you want to search for some small acorns of optimism, a better zone of hope might be a noticeable improvement in the play at the
QB position as Lewis probably gets better, Shrout is a big-arm wildcard, and McCown could be a steal. While these ideas are "Hopey" and depend on salvage on
the O-Line, they might be more realistic than trying to pump up the B-/C+ (so far) recruiting class. But yeah, to your post #295 above, we welcome the new guys
and wish them all the best.

It is like saying no to a 2nd date without actually going on the first date. I know out of left field analogy there. But I had to do it. Some folks on here jump the gun. Maybe it is years of sucking or stockholm syndrome that has led to the asume the worst approach. It makes no sense to judge KD class prematurely. It will take 2 or 3 years to really know. What I can say is outside a few players, Mel Tucker class was a bust.
