Way to go everyone!

Why would you frown that, @MtnBuff ? This is so much better.
I don't consider playoffs to be an improvement and I definitely don't consider expanded playoffs an improvement.

Champion should be the best team through the entire year, not who gets hot and gets a good draw in the bracket.

With 12 teams you are going to be seeing teams that have 3 losses in the bracket, you are going to see teams that weren't even good enough to win their division much less their league.

If you like playoffs you have the NFL with sixth seeds winning a super bowl.

I know you like it, I find it boring and false, especially on the college level.

Better than a 4-team playoff. Probably not as good as when it was just bowls and an AP vote.

As soon as they went to a playoff, everything was ruined that you speak of. A 4 team playoff, though, is what has escalated the ruin and created this monster we have now.

It removed any and all significance for non CFP post season games, and consolidated talent to the few elite programs who were actually competing for it.

“The best team” winning back in the day could have been anyone. This day and age it consists of Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State being the true contenders every year. If that’s the CFB world you want to live in, I can’t help you.

They could have almost ran out the time and not given Penn State the ball if the clock was just running instead of throwing incomplete passes. Purdue was running the ball decently and went all pass.
Penn State had 7-8 in the box after they got down and were (run) blitzing every down. “Running out the clock” was not going to work. Penn State has really strong corners in press man coverage.

Would you rather have the same four teams in a playoff every year? So much fun!

Here is my take
When you throw the ball in those situations, you must complete all your passes, period.
Time is as valuable if not more valuable than yards sometimes
You could run it 3 times, not gain much yardage, but run almost 2 minutes off the clock off

Their defense was getting shredded. Running the ball slices maybe a minute off of the game.

What are the six conference champions ?
Big10, SEC, ACC, Big12, Pac10 and whom is the 6th ? AAC ? MWC ?

They mean the top G5 program

It's the top 6 highest ranked conference champions regardless of which 6 conferences. So for example is the 6 highest ranked conference champs were SEC, B1G, Big 12, Pac12, AAC and MWC then the ACC champ would be left out

I can post one drive too…
The winning drive of course, after Purdue gave them time and confidence to do it.
I think that incomplete passes in the 6:00/4:00 drive period are killers
Running the ball, keeping the clock moving creates anxiety
We are probably both right and Penn State was destined to win the game, it just felt like Purdue was not willing or able to just close them out with any semblance of a running game
