2025 Spring Football

Criteria for a player to have his name/number enshrined on the Folsom press box facade:

Must have earned first-team All-America honors twice, first-team All-Conference honors three times or were winners of recognized national awards such as the Heisman Trophy or Thorpe Award.

Shedeur maybe qualifies from winning the Johnny Unitas Award, but it's an edge case.

I don't like retiring jersey numbers. I hope it means that their names and numbers are going up in the stadium to be honored.
I agree about the literal retirement of a number. Too many players, especially with the 105 scholarship number to make numbers unusable. It should just be a banner or an inscription like on the press box to honor them.

More of think about this the more I vasilate on $2... I don't think you put him in... but im not gonna lose sleep over it
I am OK with 2 being recognized and possibly having his number honored at some point, but not Retired right this moment
Just do not like the speed and the lack of overall conversation about it
Is there not a policy in place that should have slowed this down

I feel like this was part of CPs contract negotiation. Both you and Chiv are right, SS is an edge case and there should have been a cooling off period.

Travis should get his number retired in 10 years. Shedeur just doesn't meet the criteria. If he meets the criteria then we shouldn't have any usable numbers left.

Chev did a pretty good job of pointing out the gaffe while toeing the line of pissing off Deion.

I don't know why people are blindly supporting this. Deion isn't going to read your comments.

10 years is pretty arbitrary. If you believe he's deserving, then who cares when.

You really think Shedeur is a JAG?

I accept the Johnny Unitas Award for the nation's best QB as a national award. That is literally one of the 3 qualifying standards.

More on the edge would be looking back at Sefo, who had about 100 CU records when he left. I love him, but I'm not sure that the Polynesian POY qualifies as a recognized national award within the criteria.

*The other criteria are 2x 1st Team AA or 3x 1st Team All-Conference, for reference.
