2025 Spring Football

No. But having your number retired is the highest honor you can get and I think there are 25 guys or more with similar or better careers at CU.
I guess we just view things differently. I think the impact that Shedeur has had (and will continue to have) on the CU program is only surpassed by a few players in program history, and there's an argument he is #1 in that category over the last 30 years and the catalyst for whatever success CU will have moving forward.

Criteria for a player to have his name/number enshrined on the Folsom press box facade:

Must have earned first-team All-America honors twice, first-team All-Conference honors three times or were winners of recognized national awards such as the Heisman Trophy or Thorpe Award.

Shedeur maybe qualifies from winning the Johnny Unitas Award, but it's an edge case.

Ah that explains why Bieniemy's or Hagan's number haven't been retired.

Second scrimmage video. Salter looks like he will be QB1. He did some successful zone read runs.

I accept the Johnny Unitas Award for the nation's best QB as a national award. That is literally one of the 3 qualifying standards.

More on the edge would be looking back at Sefo, who had about 100 CU records when he left. I love him, but I'm not sure that the Polynesian POY qualifies as a recognized national award within the criteria.

*The other criteria are 2x 1st Team AA or 3x 1st Team All-Conference, for reference.
And he will be the highest drafted, most NFL ready QB to ever come out of CU. I think it was rushed for both. I do think there is a legit reason so put his name up and definitely Travis. Just too soon more than anything but what ever.

And by the way, all of the idots out there yelling at Rick George, he is a figure head as far as football decisions are concerned and Prime is the one calling any and all shots for the program. They gave him the keys and in my opinion, rightfully so. It was the only way out of the hole Rick put us in with our little man Phil.

Since the criteria is what it is, it makes some sense that if a player wins a national award they get inducted immediately, which is the case here. It means Prime is on it. What is more questionable is why Rashaan Salaam had to wait 18 years after winning the Heisman? Prime would hopefully have been on that as well if he were around back then.

Interestingly though, you won’t find many other Johnny Unitas award winners over the past decade already inducted into their Alma maters athletic hof. I don’t think you’ll find many Heisman winners already in their school’s hof. Prime is on a different timeline.

Bobby Anderson played running back in the pros but was a running QB at CU and was drafted 11th. So long as Shadeur doesn’t slide much he COULD become the highest drafted QB from CU.

I don't think it makes sense to give him credit for potential outcomes in the future. You can give him credit when those successes occur and at that point he would have a much stronger case for retiring his jersey imo.

There is no Prime at CU without Shedeur. There is no Hunter winning Heisman without Shedeur. CU is fumbling around with Bronco Mendenhall or Troy Taylor playing in front of a half empty stadium right now without Shedeur. People need to look past the on field stuff and realize what S2 has meant tot his program.

It’s also not Primes responsibility to retire Bienemy, Hagan, Figures, Stewart, Alfred, etc. There has been plenty of time for McCartney, Neuheisal, Barnett, Hawkins, Embree, MacIntyre, Tucker and Dorrell, along with Dick Tharp, Mike Bohn and Rick George to have those discussions and honor those players in the way they see fit. They waited until Salaam was dead to honor him. Why? Because they ****ed up that’s why.

Celebrate Mt Rushmore caliber players sooner rather than later.

You can't prove the counterfactual. I ascribe the recent successes and current trajectory of the program to Prime. Also, it has been two years with one winning season and zero postseason success. We are still in the building phase where success seems imminent but not guaranteed.

I think it is his responsibility to account for other players that should have their jerseys retired because this action is asserting that Shedeur is better than them.

If we were retiring a host of numbers from former greats then this would sit a lot better with me for exactly that reason.

Better yet, who is still planning to go to Folsom on Saturday?! 35 degrees, snow and the Nuggets play at 1:30! My Dad and sister have bailed on me but I still might have interest in going.

Switched to running back his senior season. Not drafted as a QB

When the 1969 Buffaloes faced injuries in the backfield, Anderson shifted to running back for the third game. The team finished third in the conference and went to the Liberty Bowl, where he rushed for a bowl record 254 yards and three touchdowns in a 47–33 victory over the Alabama Crimson Tide. Following his senior season, Anderson was recognized as a consensus first-team All-American.

And it's going to be unbelievable on Sunday and going forward. Two days of **** weather surrounded by awesomeness.

Yeah, just a very unlucky string of Spring Games 3 years in a row
I was thinking the same thing, it's just a fun atmosphere, I went a lot as a kid and then since 2010, I have only missed twice! Love the Spring Game.

I do think it is a bit early to retire his number but I also think that without even considering the link to his father as coach he deserves the consideration.

He did win the Unitas, he was also 1st team all conference and the B12 offensive player of the year.

In two years at CU (for those talking Bo Nix he only spent one at Oregon) Shedeur has planted himself at or near the top in every significant statistical catagory for both single season and career.

I do recognize the importance of him and his brother being here in CU having their dad as our coach. Prime likes money but he's got plenty of it, he's coaching because it is what he wants to do. It is unfair though to think of Shedeur and his dad as a single unit. Had his dad decided to just be his kid's dad and not coach (still providing guidance and connections) I think it would be fair to expect that we would still be seeing Shedeur listed as one of if not the top QB going into this draft.

I was young but I got to see Bobby Anderson play at CU.

It's worth keeping in mind that in those days a college QB was more often an additional RB in the backfield who occassionaly threw the football. Most college programs were considered wide-open if they threw the ball 20 times a game and many had passing schemes that would look simple compared to what many high schools run now. Bobby as a QB was mostly a runner who to direct snaps from the center. He was a great athlete though.

These helmet shells or whatever are a good idea. Same time, they crack me up because it makes players look like they have a giant noggin and a tiny body. :D I forgot what football video game was called back in the day but that's what they remind me of. Opposite of Chris Farley.
