Shedeur Sanders - 2023-25 Tracking History Thread

This sounds like news found on Twitter.
Ah, you’ve never seen Boyz n the Hood.

Gabriel is a **** QB and will never find success in the NFL. It's a hilariously bad pick. Shedeur has a weak arm.
Clearly you didn’t watch many of his games. He has an above average NFL arm. Is it as strong as Cam Ward, no. Is it at least as strong as Bo Nix. Yes and based on throws both made in college probably stronger. If you’re going to douche nozzle then at least pick something where you have a legit argument like Shedeur hangs on to the ball too long or bails on the pocket instead of stepping up.

I don't think this is 'racism' per se, but teams are passing him up without good reason, ignoring SS's skills and value. As one long timer said:

“I’m just disgusted. It’s all I can say,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr., who had Sanders as the No. 1 quarterback and No. 5 overall player on his board going into the draft, said at the end of the ESPN broadcast Friday night. (he's not disgusted with the fact he wasn't chosen, it's the WHY he wasn't)

I think this is more a matter of the Sanders family, from CP down, being considered 'uppity' and not knowing their places. It started with CP and his attitudes about playing both ways, and his outspokenness. Very close to racism, but cloaked in excuses (arrogance, body language) that give racists an out.

Whatever team does pick him, I will be cheering for him and them

Something happened that will come out soon

This. The NFL conspiracies here are a bit laughable. Theyve always taken the best player that can help their team.

Did DS and SS really tell the NFL there are teams they wouldnt play for?

I would assume SS agent has called teams he has a relationship with thru other players and already found out what the issue is.

The high rounds are about the biggest money and highest confidence. There is clearly something they know that we dont that's preventing them from opening their wallet.

You're clueless on this

The bigger worry is that the league has blackballed all buffs this year. Today is a big day. Jimmy, LaJohntay and BJ Green need to be picked up. Otherwise our biggest recruiting pitch is done, unless you are a unicorn, generational talent.

Reactions: GRM
A black QB that is quiet and doesn't make waves, no problem in today's NFL. A black QB with strong opinions and an unwillingness to toe the line? Oh yea that's gonna be a problem. Kaepernick wasn't that long ago.

Whatever concerns there are with Shedeur, they are being magnified, either subconciously or otherwise. Baker Mayfield was celebrated for planting a flag. Shedeur is hated for waving a watch around. I doubt a single person decided he wasn't a take because of his race. But many have responded negatively to things they otherwise wouldn't have.
I absolutely hated Baker Mayfield for the longest time for his shenanigans. But to try and compare his success to Shedeur’s is kind of insane. I’ve always said, “I can’t stand the bravado. But if you’re going to do it, you better the best g’damn thing out there.” Mayfield vs Sanders. 90s Miami vs 23/24 Buffs.

This plus the idea (true or not) that Prime would potentially be mettling and/or critical of the team if things aren't going well. And there's enough questions about his game that teams weren't willing to spend a 1st round pick on him.
I definitely think this has a lot to do with it.

Reading a LOT of options nationally this morning (minus the racist views), there is a huge movement behind Shedeur. If he goes undrafted, a huge boycott of the NFL begins. Warranted if you ask me.

It's speculation on my part and Im probably jumping the gun. I have a hunch that he's not going to get drafted. His film alone would get anyone drafted.
Does his film also include 24 yard sacks on 2nd and 3 in stews of just throwing it away, or scrambling cross body heave interceptions in double overtime to lose to Stanford and home after leading 29-0 at halftime? I’m just saying, he does A LOT of really good things. But does A LOT of head scratchers that don’t seem “Pro”.

Were any brash white players picked in the first round?
Stark binaries are rarely helpful.

But as Yak pointed out, Manziel and Mayfield immediately come to mind.

Lamar should have been a top five pick, but some teams were trying to force him to WR. That was less about being specifically brash, but just being unapologetically black.

I think there are a lot of things going on here, and race informs nearly every aspect of it. It's not owners and GMs stroking their white hoods and spewing out slurs in the draft room, it's little uneasy feelings and contrived justifications that are subconsciously made bigger than they should be.

Tyler Shough and Dillon Gabriel were drafted over him. If you think that's why Sanders isn't being taken, I don't know what to tell you.
