That means he'd have to recruit Texas players.

Methinks Boise/Boulder Dan won't like the Texas heat.
 
I think that, with his ability to recruit Texas, Hawkins would be a no brainer for this job.
 
I can see the news conference now:

Texas reporter: "Coach, can you explain why you decided to go for two during the first quarter, up 6-0?"

Hawkins: "Well, it's one of those deals where you look around and see which way the wind is blowing, try to figure out who brought their lunchpail this week and who has a twinkle in his eye and you kind of take all that, mix it up, and see what comes out"

Texas reporter: "What the hell are you talking about, son?"

Yes, he's a perfect fit for those texas folks. Like putting elton john as the front man for Korn.
 
Hawkins should have just stayed in Boise and let Peterson do his job for him like he was before he came to boulder.

Texas State: There is a report that Oklahoma defensive ends coach Bobby Jack Wright is interviewing today at Texas State. Apparently, Dennis Franchione has withdrawn his name and the job is down to Rocky Long, Tim Brewster, Shawn Watson, and Bobby Jack Wright.
