'12 CA QB Shane Dillon (Signed to COLORADO)

If Dillon isn't around for spring, even if he is more physically gifted at QB than the others, he should redshirt. Embo, when he got here, wanted to balance the depth chart and he stated that QB was the weakness. Thanks Hawk. Regardless, I'm sure Dillon will have the opportunity to compete. Embo and staff will play the best players. There is a lot of competition at all positions. I love Embo's statement, 'when we have a Greg Brown on the scout team, I'll be happy'. I think CU football is in good hands.

I don't feel like reading the entire thread again.

Is Dillon planning on early enrolling so he can participate in spring drills. Having a spring practice would give him a huge step up even if he redshirts. He would be able to go into the season with a much better understanding of the offense letting him use the film meetings and practice to get a big jump on the mental part of the game.

I'm so excited for Dillon now that Wood has come in.

Now he doesn't face a situation where he could be rushed to the field before he's ready. Nothing can screw up a young QB faster than throwing him to the wolves before his time.

With the current situation, he still has an opportunity to win the job as a true freshman. But if he does win it, it will be because he beat out some deep competition and was ready ahead of schedule. That would be huge for his confidence and everyone's confidence in him that he's truly ready. And, of course, it will still be a wide open competition. No one projected to be in the 2012 mix has taken a snap for a BCS team.

If he doesn't win the QB1 job for 2012, he has the time to master the offense, bulk up in a college training program, improve his mechanics under Scherer for a season, and then be ready to compete for the 2013 job.

And with the way football goes, especially at QB, everyone's always 1 snap away from having to step in and help the team win. QBs, as leaders, are usually the first to say they want to see as much talent on the depth chart as possible so that the team can go on and compete for a championship no matter who goes down.

Today's developments were a good thing for Dillon and the program. I honestly believe this is now an even better situation for him.

He has said that he welcomes the competition. That's exactly what you want from your players, especially your quarterback, so it sounds like it's all good. I'm even higher on Dillon since I heard that, fwiw.

I'm a deal maker, so sort of. All about finding where peoples' needs meet and helping them come together. In this case, I see a better deal than I did yesterday. Blowing smoke is the quickest way to a short career.
 
Nice find, ATL. I love how his receivers joked with Shane in their answers. Restating one question as "Is it fun to play with a celebrity?" and the other receiver getting in a jab about always needing to have his hair spiked. :lol: That's great to see the rapport with this group.

AZ had some cool stuff on Shane over on BuffScoop. Shane even had some special shoes made up that have "CU" printed on the heels.
 
I hope Shane is keeping an eye on our WR commits, if so he has to be even more excited to see who he is going to get to work with for the next few years.

I only got to see part of the ESPN show on the Elite 11, but that was the thing that jumped out the most to me -- that everyone seemed to like him. He has that goofy, great attitude that seems to win everyone over.

Dillon returned to the field after halftime and played the third quarter with a noticeable limp before being replaced under center by freshman Seth Collins. Christian never really found an offensive rhythm against Hoover’s quick defense with either quarterback.

Dude...the wheels have been off for five years....you should have asked, are all of our attempts to get the train back on the tracks going to get ****-canned in one night? At least several of our 2012 recruits had stellar games on Friday night.
