'19 CA OLB Henry To'oto'o (Signed to Tennessee)

I've shared before somewhere here how one of my sons got into CU with major learning disabilities, for a non-revenue sport. Disabilities that we were not aware of.

Katie intervened (based on what was working in football ) prior to crash and burn, barely. But there were flames.

His last 4 semesters were over 3.5 avg. Once he figured out what he had to do, which wasn't similar to most students...

Getting into CU is step one.Getting in and succeeding are two different and important distinctions

It is not a big issue with the vast majority of offers CU makes. It is a very dated excuse.

Even if/when it is legit it is something that can be managed.

Some schools over sign knowing that they have one or two kids who are unlikely to qualify. If by chance they end up with those academically marginal kids making it they have a couple of the bottom end kids in the class prepared knowing that they will be asked to gray shirt or otherwise delay until space is available.

It comes down to the coaches keeping close tabs on the kids who are likely risk.

In an ideal world we could just select from the kids who are academic standouts but that doesn't always match the talent we need. Even schools like Alabama recruit some academic risk.

MM showed repeatedly that he wasn't willing to extend himself into recruiting battles against more successful programs nor was he willing to take a lot of academic risk instead believing he could take the lower hanging fruit and develop his players. Sometimes it worked but not often enough, thus we have a new coach who has at least stated that he is going to enter those battles.

I'm sensing a new thread on the island in 5 . . . 4 . . . .3 . . . 2 . . . .

I may be guilty of as many bad puns around here as any two other posters but they don't belong in a recruits thread.

If a kid has the desire to do well in school and talent like this guy has on the field then with the right assistance he can be a player and get a quality education.

Hold the line...

don't make us go through these threads with a cueball in a tube sock to use on your pun-heads.

mr. to'oto'o is a player. let's get him.

Henry To'oto'o - LB - Players
Uncommitted four-star 2019 LB Henry To'oto'o will sign in February.
To'oto'o (6'2/210) was working with a top-five list of Alabama, Cal, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington prior to a recent official visit to Utah. You can toss the Utes into his final mental hierarchy, now, too. The four-star linebacker possesses palatable speed coupled with efficient lines on his tackles and a physical mindset. On the 247Sports composite board, To'oto'o lands as the No. 41 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
