On the outside maybe this is a good hire from a game day point of view. From a personality point of view maybe its not. Petrino has some baggage he can't seem to escape and unfortunately he stands on whichever colleges front porch welcoming players, alums, and fans. His sudden and shadowy departure from the Falcons after 1 year was not handled well. The motorcycle incident speaks for itself. He's shot himself in the foot too many times.

I have to wonder why Louisville didn't simply match UTs offer and kept Strong.

Because it wasn't about money, they could've matched it but UT is a better job.

The message is, if you are good enough, you can bang a VB player, and get your seven-figure job back a few years after abandoning your employer. It's the American way.

If I'm Louisville, I think about how having Pitino embroiled in a national scandal & police action destroyed the hoops program.... all the way to a national championship.
 
It sure won't be hard to remember the Louisville coach's name. Petrino, Pitino... whatever.

I thought the messege was that they are SEC level serious about winning. Which is a pretty serious statement to recruits.
 
i so love the idea of saban and kiffiin together. please lord, let someone make a reality tv show that follow them behind-the-scenes.

think of the on-camera drama, when, after said loss, in the locker room, saban casts his baleful gales at his offensive coordinator. he summons a couple of his o-linemen-- "hold him"-- and he proceeds to remove kiffy's heart with his bare hands.

that's ****ing great tv, man. what's your problem????
