2013 Basketball Season Tickets (sold out 10/4)

All but the most poorly attended games the club room is unusable at halftime. They doubled the space last year and tripped the number of "bars" but still that wasn't enough. We are talking 6 beer lines that are all 75+ people long by 2 minutes into halftime. They need to cut the number of people in the club room and like they do for seats make it a mandatory donation. I don't know what the BuffClub participation % is in the club room at half time but if it is more than 90% they need to find another way to gate people out of the club room and use it to increase revenue.

Selling more beer that we likely make $1-2 a can on isnt really a great plan, a hundred new buffclub members though? That math makes sense.

Upgrades are coming to Coors. I wouldn't be surprised if a new club space, or club level, or club concourse was part of it.

To increase revenue.

The club room is beyond realistic capacity anyway already, doing something to thin the crowds while picking up a few hundred more Buff-club members is an ideal way to do this.

I wouldn't do it yet, but making it more exclusive, you could charge more/improve amenties=increasing revenue

I get what you're saying on all counts (and I'm still looking for a Kansas ticket! I even made a joke about enrolling in a class so I could buy a student ticket). And I totally agree with you regarding student fees (we're really paying to build a Ralphie shaped outdoor pool?), but I guess my larger point is this- student tickets shouldn't be about raising revenue, they should be about cultivating the next generation of fans who will use their theoretically increased buying power to purchase regular season tickets. A student who can get in for $50 a season will become an alum who will buy season tickets for $110, or $200, or $300, or whatever. A student who is priced out of those tickets at the moment is less likely to become such an alum.

I fully agree that the club room is a mess at halftime. I don't know if opening up the second practice gym would make sense or not. It's a good problem to have, though. Maybe make one gym open to the masses, and restrict the other one for Buff Club members. That would give people a taste of the good life, and let them know that there is more/better options available for a price.

New regime, 2nd year of a renovated building... much bigger deal for CU to sell out. Basketball here just become a profitable endeavor after all.

That day sucked. 7 degrees, walk to the Keg, watch the Buffs get out coached and out played, walk back to car, drive home and watch the Broncos blow the playoff game. In fact, the player who made the biggest mistake for the Broncos was a UCLA alum.

Stupid UCLA.

They should make you have to pick up the tickets in person from Boulder the month before the season starts. Else you forfit the tickets, but not your money.

I like that idea but I have family friends (at least for football) who have kept renewing their season tickets ever since they left Colorado and they think of it as a donation to the university and give the tickets to friends and family still in Colorado.

So if they look at it as a donation, would they be upset that other buff fans are sitting in their seats?

Their friends they give the tickets to I am sure can find a way to pick them up.

Unless you made the ticket holder pick it up, there's too many loopholes around it. The Cubs voided the season tickets of many out of state, realizing they were ticket brokers. So if you kept CO-only, you'd be opening up a can of worms with alums living out of state.

I am in Denver, I am a basketball donor. This would piss me off, it is a non-starter.
