2017 Season Hype/Countdown Thread

This one seems to be more in line with the projections than most.
Maybe. Juwan Winfree at 4th string? Colby Pursell ahead of Lynott at backup center? Chance Lytle at backup guard (GTFOH lol)? Adkins at backup RB? Jase Franke at starting NT? Coleman and Jackson starting DT's (no way in hell)?

Don't see any of the true freshmen so that list will be updated.

I always thought the Franke at backup NT was just a holder saying that if Tupou got hurt, Carrell would slide to NY, and Franke would take his spot. I guess not?

Winfree: hasn't practiced live since last fall. He will jump up the chart quickly, but coaches haven't seen him in a year.

Pursell ahead of Lynott: Ya that is weird.

Lytle likely won't be here, but they don't have any of the incoming freshman factored in here yet either, so given the current options...

Franke may very well start. Edwards doesn't have the conditioning yet.

Jackson will likely start, most experienced returning DL. Coleman likely not.

Yeah it never made sense, they put Michael Matthews at nose tackle in one of these. If it were me I would have Edwards at NT with Umu and Franke at DT's to start the season, then use Jackson and Coleman to rotate in.

There is 0% chance Franke starts at NT unless we want to set a rushing record against us against UW.

Same thing with Mulumba & javier Edwards.

We haven't started camp yet. M2 isn't going to put a newcomer ahead of a senior who has been in the program at this point but I would be shocked if it stayed that way very long.

Pretty much, but that front seven depth looks very shaky regardless.
Not concerned about DMac, and I'm not overly concerned about our LBs, tbh. Depth is obviously unknown at all 3 spots, so hopefully we are pleasantly surprised with some of the guys we haven't seen much of. Is Stoltenberg really next in line behind Gamboa??
I think the 3 DL are the bigger question marks. Mulumba, and Edwards need to be everything that we hope they can be, but my guess is that they take a full year of playing this competition to get to that point, like Carrell/Samson did before they became solid players.

Not sure how these statements can go together.

How many guys do we need healthy at the 3 d-line spots. I am actually okay with Edwards, Franke, Jackson, very optimistic about Umu and then having Coleman, Malumba and Frazier used in more limited roles doesn't seem bad. As pointed out above though, LB depth is young but also talented. Luckily we have two linebacker coaches.

There are always a few freshmen that show up ready to play and surprise...fingerscrossed
