2018-2019 Coaching Carousel..

(FS) Utah State: Utah State is shutting down its search and all signs point to Gary Andersen returning as head coach, tweets Pete Thamel. FootballScoop first reported on Andersen’s likely return on Sunday.
It's not often that there's a hang up while waiting on a psychologist's report before you make your hire.

Kidding aside, Andersen definitely played the system by his own rules and now he's going back to what was probably his favorite job, he's just much more financially secure than he was when he left it.

seems to me, as a long time college sports fan....."you can't go home, again". redux is almost always bad.

and as a 50 year old man.....the past is the past. the things that happened, they happened....and these new things....they are new things. not the same.

supposedly, Hegel is quoted as saying: history repeats itself, the first time as tragedy.....second time as farce.

They're going to have to pry his cold, dead hands off that job if they ever tire of him.

He knows of what he speaks, after all his cooch exercises seemed like a good idea until they were used to slam it shut!

We read and discussed Hegel's "Phenomenology Of Spirit" in a 400-level Philosophy class when I was in Boulder. Heady stuff. Seems like a long time ago.

Will be interesting to follow the NAU coaching search. My daughter will be a freshman there next year

One more thing: A grandson of some friends of ours just graduated from NAU with some high-falutin' techno computer related degree and landed a high paying first job in San Jose, CA. Really happy with his choice of schools. Best of luck to your daughter!

That's an AD's dream too-If Anderson wins, no power 5 AD in their right mind will be interested in him after his Wisconsin and Oregon State tenure.

No idea how Davie can hold on to the UNM job. Mush be cost prohibitive to get rid of him.
Yeah. When there are allegations of player mistreatment, you have to win right? That one's bizarre. But I think that the state and the university are pretty much in financial crisis.

According to a local source https://www.krqe.com/sports/local-sports/bob-davie-to-stay-at-new-mexico-for-2019-season/1631183933

The buyout would have been $1.2 million. That doesn't sound like much considering that CU is on the hook for double that for out assistants right now but for UNM it is huge.

Their AD ran a deficit of about $4 million last year and attendance is declining. They only had a little over $1.5 million in football ticket revenue in 2017 and the media revenues from the MWC are a fraction of what P5 conferences get.

It would be really hard for them to explain paying a fired coach at the same time as they have been cutting sports and looking at cutting more.

That's right. I think they shut down their skiing program this year. Thanks, Mountain.

(FS) Temple: Greg Schiano, Butch Jones and Josh Gattis are all interested in the Temple vacancy reports Marc Narducci who covers the program. Narducci adds that interim head coach Ed Foley will get an interview and he believes former Temple assistant Francis Brown (currently with Matt Rhule at Baylor) is also a candidate.
