2018 WBB Recruit Profile Index

Coaches go to the tournaments where they think they can find the best players that fit their program.

Seems like the Buffs are making lots of offers to players in the classes of '19 and '20. What's hard to figure out is what's going on with the class of '18. This is a critical class as the Pac 12 is on the rise and any team that wants to be competitive has to build a foundation through recruiting. A year from now Kennedy and Alexis will be seniors. If the Buffs can up the level of talent around them perhaps they'll have a shot at the NCAA tourney in '19.

I agree on the "what's going on with the class of'18" question. I definitely like Cameron but she needs some good company in the class. Might we see another round of JUCO transfers for 2018?

With the class of '18 it seems many of the CU targets (at least the ones we know of) have chosen to go elsewhere. And most of them were top 100 caliber.

I was just thinking the same thing. Should they not sign many players in this HS class will they turn to juco and transfers from four year schools?

Maybe 1 but I think the juco thing was a one year thing due to transfers. They know they will need to build with HS talent. They know how transfers and juco players are more of gambles than HS players. If say we only get 2 in the 2018 class, I think they just get extra in 2019. I'm guessing we sign 3 HS players in 18.

Payne is recruiting nationally (and internationally). Great to see. I thought it would be almost all focused in the western US.

I've felt for years that with the right coaching staff and support from the athletics department the women's basketball program could recruit from all over the US for top 100 level talent. Heck, Arizona's doing it now and so is Oregon State. Boulder and CU should be an easier sell than those two places.

Now, let's see what happens with the class of '18, they could give as many as five scholarships, but my guess is that it wold be four at the most.

Another offer evidently made at some point (per the below tweet)- to 2018 highly rated 6'3" or 6'4" PF/ C Olivia Owens, from Niskayuna High School in Niskayuna NY, and the Nike City Rocks club team.

https://prospectsnation.com/player/olivia-owens#bio (Currently ranked #49 in the 2018 class.)

Edit- Her HUDL page - https://www.hudl.com/profile/8943170/olivia-owens

Niskayuna High School is the alma mater of Buff Kate Fagan

I know I'm prejudiced but I would rather be in Boulder than Tucson or Corvallis. CU now compete with facilities. Coors could stand some upgrades but that is mostly for the experience of the fans.

Another offer looks to have been made to a 2018 post player- namely 6'6" (or 6'4" or 6'5"?) post player Uchenna Nwoke from South Grand Prairie HS in Grand Prairie TX.

(Older) evaluation from that link-
"
Allen Hoopfest-November 2015: Low-post performer with imposing size, shot blocking presence; emerging interior game yields results; mobile in transition; next level possibilities. (Olson)

Another offer to a post/ center looks to have been made- this time 2019 class 6'5" Taiyanna (or Tai-Yanna?) Jackson from East Chicago Central High School, East Chicago, IN, and the Baylor Youth Foundation Basketball club.

Per https://www.prepballstars.com/?p=883 ,
"
State Rank: #1 (for her class)
Jackson is really coming into her own and may be the top prospect at any grade level in Indiana. She controls the paint on both ends, especially on defense, and can score it inside and from 15 feet.

Stats - http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/tai...nzwbTA/gendersport/girls-basketball-stats.htm
(Note- From Google search, looks like she temporarily transferred to another school, so only played 13 games last season when she arrived back at E. Chicago HS as a sophomore, averaging 11.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 5.7 blocks in those games.)

Looks like CU will be getting an official visit from '18 forward Sirena Tuitele from Chino, CA in September.

Sirena Tuitele (Chico, Calif.), JBS Gauntlet I – 2018

Sirena "Peanut" Tuitele is a matchup
problem at the forward spot for JBS.
*Photo by Xavier Johnson. The 6-2 Tuitele has to be in the mix as one of the biggest risers of the summer and her play at the EIE Shootout only emphasized it. She is a smooth athlete who is really difficult to defend at the high post because of her quickness, power, ability to hit the mid-range jumper as well as blow by defenders to the rim.

I really hope we see some activity on the 2018 class soon. Many of the players that we know have had CU WBB offers have committed elsewhere.

They do have two official visits set up this fall for Jillian Archer and Sirena "Peanut" Tuitele, both 6-2 forwards from California. Other than that, ?
