2019 Buffs Football hype thread

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller believes that Colorado junior WR Laviska Shenault would have been a Round 1 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft if he was eligible.

Alabama WR Jerry Jeudy and Shenault (6'2/220) would have been Miller's No. 1 and No. 2 receivers in this class if they were available, and it's hard to argue against that, especially given the lack of a blue-chip receiver prospect in the 2019 class. Both Jeudy and Shenault showed how they can win in a variety of ways, and both receivers did so as youngsters. Although Miller's statements are great compliments to both Jeudy and Shenault, it is also a reminder of the rules in place that prevent young superstars from maximizing their earning potential. Hopefully, they continue their progressions, so they can secure high-end selections in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Coach Tucker, you get to have Viska for 1 season. Don’t mess it up!

DK metcalf wowed everybody at the combine with a 4.37(?) 40, to go with his height and weight (and body fat % that turned out to be untrue), but his agility drills were awful. He’s considered the best WR is the class and both Jeudy and Viska are far better football players.
Metcalf won the underwear Olympics and suddenly several front offices forgot that he is injury prone, and is not particularly productive when he is healthy.

Tyler Lytle looks to have put on some good weight. Looks strong.

Hopefully we see him get some meaningful snaps early in the season.

@RunRalphieRun is no more. They changed it to @CUBuffsFootball. Not that important, but I liked @RunRalphieRun. It was unique. I guess it was a head scratcher for those not in the know, though.

Runralphierun is nice. But I won’t lie, I had to google our twitter page because I didn’t know the handle. So I imagine for recruits they can’t tag us because it isn’t easy to search for.

and of course the expense and overhead of maintaining TWO twitter accounts would be an unreasonable burden for a flagship university's top revenue generating program

Good change. I had to keep reminding myself that RRR was the official account. It's better to be clear than to be fun/creative in consideration for the purposes and uses of this account.

I honestly can say I’ve never been this excited for a season in a long time. That combo of a well regarded coach coming in, an experienced QB, a superstar player on both sides of the ball. I do like Johnson as well, especially as a play caller. His teams are creative and fun.

Some interesting comments about MM regarding the Oregon State game and aftermath. Obviously beginning of the end for him, but you can reasonably assume LC/RG had their minds made up about moving on after that game, or at the latest, after they didn’t rebound in Arizona.

I will also say, these interviews were great and really got the kool aid flowing for me. The first CU HC coming from an elite level program(s) since HCBM. Even though he’s never been a HC, it just feels like we finally have a big time guy looking after “our” beloved program.

Whoa.

“That is why, in my history of watching CU football, that game is the most aggravating, frustrating, demoralizing game I’ve ever been a part of. You are up 31-3, at home, Homecoming, fans are going crazy.”

“It’s what you instill in your team. That’s something that allows you to connect with your team, and say, ‘Let’s gather here, when the lead has been cut to 31-17, and say, “I want the whole team out here. Let’s everybody get out here. I’m going to tell you how we are going to finish this game” … and it’s not going to be the way we finished the Oregon State game. I waited for that to happen (during the second half of the Oregon State loss). Mike had the chance to gather and galvanize the team, but didn’t. Everyone has different ideas on how you do that. But one thing you don’t do is nothing. You’ve got to gather up your team and chew their ass. It’s unacceptable. And it’s not just the head coach. It’s the position coaches, who are down on the sidelines with those guys.”

It was worth it for those quotes. I was watching that game and went to go get ready for a Halloween party because I thought it was over. I was so ****ing livid that entire day, I couldn’t believe that. I’m glad lance and RG agree that was straight up unacceptable bull**** and has no place at CU.

I’m excited for this year!!!!!

It is very encouraging when the people who are the caretakers of our program feel the same rage and frustration that we do. It helps me believe they will do all they can to make the program strong.

I’m aware. They also attended many years apart so I don’t see how that changes anything.
You keep up with those who are doing well. And now local to you. It was a cool thing to see. I went to the same school as John Major, many years before and I followed his career closely
