2019 NIT thread

Well...I mean it's the best basketball being played in the world, by the best players in the world, so......
Strangely enough, the main reason I'm not that into the NBA is that they're too good. The fundamentals, athleticism and skills are at such a crazy high level that a lot of drama is removed. (Unlike college, it's not gonna be 50/50 if someone gets an open look from 15 feet away.) The NBA does get very entertaining for me in the playoffs, though, because the defensive intensity raises a lot and you stop seeing very many uncontested looks. Also, seeing matchups like Harden vs Lillard with playoff intensity is just a beautiful thing to watch as a hoops fan.

Agree with this.

Along with the length of the season and the long play-offs meaning that a lot of players do a lot of coasting in the regular season.

Also because of the varying level and types of talent there is much more variety to the college game, it is more interesting mentally.

That's the thing about the NBA that turns people off. NBA players make the game look like what it is...a very, very simple game.

I love crisp basketball. Outstanding jump shooting, simple offensive sets, getting up and down the court.

I rarely watch professional basketball, either NBA or WNBA. I don't find it interesting. Never have. I tried very hard with the WNBA, but I don't enjoy it.

I much prefer the college game. I may watch some of the NBA playoffs... only because I think the Nuggets are competitive for a change. I find the NBA boring... great athletes, but boring.

Is The Schwartz going to become a consistent outside threat? He sure has looked good lately.

There is no reason beyond a weird mental funk for Schwartz, Siewert or Gatling to have gone through such slumps with such overall pedestrian 3pt percentages this season. If they shoot like they're capable next year along with Kin continuing the progression we've seen, this team could flip the script for that category.

But I don't trust any of their consistency this year. Every one of them is fully capable of going 0/5 against Norfolk on Monday.

I swear, Siewert has Walter White level arcs in every season. I've never seen a player have such inconsistent sustained success

The most frustrating thing for me has been that CU shoots a very low number of 3 pointers and it seems that we have a ton of misses in our low percentage that are great shots from within our offense. Sure, we have a share of low % attempts at the end of the shot clock. But we're not jacking up contested 3s on the break or anything like I see a lot of teams do. We have had nights I've seen us be incapable of hitting a wide open corner 3 against a 1-3-1 zone. That shot is about a 50% shot in rhythm with feet set and no one contesting, but we've shot ourselves out of games because it is the shot you have to take and make against that defense or you simply cannot open up anything else in your offense.

It would be like if a college football team ran a true 5-2 with cover-2 over the top high school defense against your football team and you couldn't complete a curl to open things up. It just can't happen if you want to win.

You never know how they'll play as they get further into the tournament, but Texas hasn't exactly been dominant thus far. They struggled to put South Dakota State away, then went to OT against Xavier.

They're beatable, if we take care of business tomorrow night.

Traveling to Austin, with a win tonight, is just about the best case scenario I believe. Travel for the team is much easier and there should be a good number of CU fans in the seats.

Just have to take care of business tonight.

I’m assuming we should have no problem walking up and buying a ticket, right? Is there a big crowd expected?

Bey warming up and looking fine.

EDIT- Dunked as I said this and came down with no problem.
