2020 CU football season POSTPONED until Nov 6th?

That does not sound that crazy to me. A lot of nitty gritty details can hashed out in that meeting without an "official" plan. I would feel pretty confident at Oregon and Oregon State based on that statement.

The stuff with California sounds like a bigger issue to me because it appears both sides are talking past each other in public.
All the schools had to do was ask today and she granted the exemptions. Why wasn’t that done two weeks ago? Why hasn’t this been done in CA? We aren’t talking about nitty gritty details. We are talking about a basic step one.

The failure of PAC 12 leadership comes from a lack of any kind of plan if the B1G came back and decided to play this Fall. Maybe I’m reading this all wrong, but it appears to me that this caught them completely by surprise.

I am more talking about the incompetence of Pac 12 leadership if what she is saying is true, that they have not presented state leadership with any plans

Easy to fix, but yes it should have been ran up the flagpole in draft form by now, with them just saying we are working to fine tune our master plan. Could have been CYA Political talk too.

We should be back on the field soon, and I would really prefer that it be sooner, like the first week in November, and IF there is a PAC12 Championship game, it would be nice to have an extra matchup game with the remaining 10 teams, with a chance for 1 more game just for the players to enjoy.

Because again, it’s not pressing until they even have the tests. So they are going through the process right now and will likely be approved In those states by the time they come in.

What frustrates the hell out of me, is that apparently the Pac12 was perfectly content to just waste the season.
You say that but it’s not even true. They went out and found daily testing that is better than the nfl’s, Scott had talks with leaders today, the individual schools from Oregon had a meeting and tests are supposed to be in their hands in a week to a week and a half.

With all the frustration on all sides, we can at least see light at the end of the tunnel. Today has shown that the public health officials and governance in Oregon and California are willing to make this work (at least on the surface it seems that way). Pretty significant day in regards to having a fall season.

Oregon officials said that neither Pac-12 or UO/OSU officials had contacted them with any type of plan to return to play. Unacceptable.

Gov. Newsom indicated that this was the first time that he had been contacted by Larry Scott with any type of question about the Public Health guidelines. Unacceptable.

As soon as the deal was signed with the testing lab, the Pac-12 should have contacted state officials and received clearance or exemptions. The Pac-12 could have been able to tell fans and stake holders, testing arrives on this date, we have clearance to resume practice on this date, play can resume on this date. Here is the revised schedule and how we plan to incorporate it into the CFB Playoff.

The Pac12 is REACTING to the news that the Big10 is going to play football.

The lack of initiative could end up costing the conference two or three very valuable weeks. Weeks that could push them out of any chance to be in the CFP discussion.

Not really for the conference or Athletic Departments. I’m ripping the conference here, not the Oregon Governor

You think ADs just called up the governor's office today and *magically* got an exemption granted which had never been discussed in any detail prior to today's meeting? Does that make any sense?

I am guessing there has been a far bigger issue to deal with in that state the last few weeks.

If I'm reading this correctly, this exemption came about as part of a meeting that took place TODAY. What better things have the Oregon and Oregon State athletic departments had to do the last few weeks? Why didn't they get the ball rolling on getting a variance when they had the Quidel deal done leaguewide?

The spokesperson in Oregon said that this was the first time the conference or the member institutions had contacted them... I mean what else are we to infer?

Do you think the governor has potentially been preoccupied with other matters in recent weeks?

Brown has said repeatedly (even before the bad fires) that she would not do anything to put Oregon/Oregon State at a competitive disadvantage. Given that, those two getting an exemption was a formality.

That’s what her statement said and yes, it would be on par with how this conference handles its business. For some reason you keep defending them and giving them the botd, even though all evidence points to ****ty leadership.

From leaked audio, recorded deep in the P12 complex in San Francisco...

[unidentified male]: Larry, what is our contingency plan if all the P5 conferences move forward and play?

[Larry Scott]: Contingency plan? We don't need no stinkin' contingency plan.

(Parody, no animals were harmed in the making of this parody).

If the B1G does not make the announcement they did today, do we hear a peep from conference leadership regarding return to play? No.

Larry and the Pac12 are in full reaction / recovery mode. They had no plan in place.

How much longer until this conference ditches our "esteemed" commissioner?

Again, in regards to the two Oregon schools specifically, I am really not understanding the fuss here.

California seems like a bigger problem and yes, conference leadership is partly to blame there.

Hey man, you are an awesome member of this sight and I know this has been a super frustrating year with covid and everything but you are freaking out right now over absolutely nothing. The pac 12 is not reacting to anything. They signed the deal for daily rapid testing like 2 weeks ago, formulated protocols for the entire conference (because if you didn’t know all teams that visit Oregon and California have to abide by their rules) and then had meetings with local officials today (Oregon school with their local officials and Larry Scott with reps from both sides today).

California has rules on contact gatherings over 12 people, that is annoying and stupid as hell, I get it. Dorrell had his first practice with his team on the field a couple weeks ago according to Howell but there is still a hold up with these two states and all the complaining in the world will not do anything about it.

You are going to have to spell it out for me because I do not read what you are saying anywhere.

"Let me stress that up to this point we have received no written plans from the Pac12 for the upcoming season, and we have no details from the conference on their new rapid testing proposal. Until we have those details, we cant move forward with the process"

Yeah, that does not equal this:

I can't find anything saying this has been in the works prior to this week. Can you? Again-if the schools got in touch Sept. 3 and these requests have been sitting on Brown/Newsom/insert name of public health officer here's desk-your point's valid. I don't believe that's what's going on though.

The optics make it seem like Pac 12 leadership, including ADs/Presidents, have been having zero discussions with state leadership, have been formulating zero plans and have been 100% reactive.

California is only a bigger problem because, like Oregon, today seems to be the first conversations Pac 12 leadership has really had with state leadership about this process. Can the 4 CA programs request exemption like the Oregon schools did? Sounds like Newsom is just shrugging and putting the onus back on the Pac 12.

Again, they don’t have the tests until later this month. They were likely getting things together and this was mor if a formality.
