2020 Recruit Profile Index & Recruiting News

WR from Honolulu.

https://247sports.com/Player/Roman-Wilson-46043085/ (11 offers showing (not including the Buffs), 6 of which are from the Pac 12 or Big 10.)

Edit - wanted to add this is another QUICK WR, with a 4.4 40 time showing on HUDL, and he just won the Hawaii 100M state championship with a 10.68 (per https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=11166787).

He looks really fast in the highlights.

2020 JUCO CB Cortez Eatmon in town this weekend:

FWIW, his hometown of Jasper is my mom's hometown and a decent chunk of my family still lives there. It gets said a lot, but Boulder is going to be much different for him.
Hopefully our staff full of southerners will make him feel like he’s at a home away from home.

Also, I think this is the first time I’ve learned something personal about the enigmatic Duff Man. Second if you count that you’re an Auburn fan (which now makes sense to me).

Our staff actually has just 3 Southerners, despite some extensive recent coaching experience in the South.
Where they were raised:

Tucker, OH
Johnson, MN
Hagan, CA
Chev, CA
Pupunu, Tonga / Utah
Kapilovic, AZ
Michalowski.. NJ / AZ
Tillman, GA
Els, NE
Brumbaugh, FL
Summers, GA

That’s an interesting point about the main coaches, but years of experience coaching in the south goes a long way with understanding southern culture and connecting better with southern recruits.

Not to mention other staff like Cordae Hankton (NOLA), recruiting assistant Tessa Akers (SC, Georgia Southern alum), and our new hire Neyland Raper from Georgia.

Offer out to Austin TX WR (per 247, also a CB per HUDL) who is currently an Arkansas commit.

(Looks to be a very good athlete as, in a great track and field state, he was able to score for his team in the long jump (2nd), 300M hurdles (4th) and 110M hurdles (5th) at the state championships in the largest school division (6A) per https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=11016364 .)

For those like me who didn't get the connection, wanted to mention it looks like he may have decent football genes; he is the son of some former NFL player named Jerry-

I didn’t even realize he had a son that old, nice! Thank you for being so diligent in posting all these tweets, much appreciated.

Tall (6'7"-6'8") ATH from East Surrey HS in Pilot Mountain, NC.
(Really hard to fully guess a college position for this young man, at least based on stats. 247 lists ATH, His Twitter profile lists QB, and his HS stats (https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/je...Eea-8KA2nzwbTA/gendersport/football-stats.htm) have him doing pretty much everything for his team but place kicking (he HAS punted some). Also a 3 sport athlete, he averaged 24.9 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game this past bball season, while also being on the baseball team (no stats provided on Maxpreps).)

East Surry is a 1A school in NC, but other than being small, I think it would compare favorably in most sports to a 3A or 4A in CO or AZ (other places I have lived). I haven't seen him play, but may have a chance to see him this year in basketball or baseball if sons teams sees them in playoffs. It really is great to go to hs sports here in NC. Any given night you see real DI DII talent in nearly every league at any level.
