Story was Kroll wanted to use the Regents job as a stepping stone into higher political office. Instead he has built a record and reputation that will be hard to overcome.

He probably thought he was scoring points with the ultra libs there for when DeGette retires.

He might have wanted to look at the demographics a bit closer though.
