It was @sackmanCan someone help out a 35 year old with failing memory? Who was it that thought the Rose Bowl was in Anaheim?
If we drop a conference game when the LA schools move to the Big 10 my guess is we'll all have to add a few of those......No. He doesn't like the body bag games. The exposure is nice for the HBCU, but they usually get wrecked on the field and in the wallet. Not worth it.
I would guess we still play 9 conf games. Would actually be beneficial for us to drop to 8. Would easily be able to add a couple weak non-conf gamesIf we drop a conference game when the LA schools move to the Big 10 my guess is we'll all have to add a few of those......
Cash those checks, homey. There's no way we're agreeing to play outside in Tempe in August. Unless, of course, the game starts at midnight local time to hit that Hawaiian prime time viewing sweet spot.
If I'm Commish K, I'm absolutely moving the game to Week 0 to get the Coach Prime premiere as a Pac-12 broadcast instead of a Big 12 broadcast. If I'm CU & ASU, I'm absolutely choosing to have a national audience for the game and all the pregame shows focused on my team instead of it being a middling game with mediocre attention later in the year - and making a lot more money as a neutral site game than if it was @ASU. If I'm the network that would have the option for broadcast rights, I want this game. If I'm the stadium and city that can get the game, I want this event. It's going to happen.Yeah if it’s at Arizona state I’d much rather have his first game be at TCU. Team that just played in the national championship. Will be ranked high. Possible gameday destination. No one gives a **** about Arizona state and a 8:00 game

The national audience you speak of won’t be much outside of asu and cu fans. You’ll have the eyes interested in Deion sure but it won’t be half what it would have been playing TCU fresh off the national championship game. Make it oregon or usc sure. No one gives a **** about Arizona state. The money it makes by having it a “pac12” broadcast isn’t worth it imo. Not to mention our biggest advantage going in to TCU is no one knows what to expect. Zero competition in week zero. Nation hungry for football. This matchup will draw a ton of eyeballsThe national audience you speak of won’t be much outside of asu and cu fans. Ok cool. How much extra money does that make us? As opposed to giving up our advantage on TCU?Zero competition in week zero. Nation hungry for football. This matchup will draw a ton of eyeballs
Disagree. First game of Prime always has more than his secondNone of that hype around the TCU game is compromised as long as we win. It would actually be enhanced.
what advantage would we have on tcu? IMO this gives us the oppty to work out 1st game kinks against another program who will be doing the same. With max exposureOk cool. How much extra money does that make us? As opposed to giving up our advantage on TCU?
They have. I tape on us. We can obv speculate what we think the offense and defense will be but we’re not sure. They’ll get a full games tape of it. That’s hugewhat advantage would we have on tcu? Extra week of practice and that game experience. I think that extra practice week and game make a big difference to our advantage vs TCU and also gives an advantage vs Nebraska.what advantage would we have on tcu? Again your assuming just bc it’s week 0 that primes first game would get more exposure for a late night game in Tempe than a prime time game against TCU. Literally no one cares about Arizona state. They couldn’t have picked a worse team on the pac12 for this. And the all important bottom line: in today's era you ALWAYS take an opportunity for increased revenue and national exposure for your program. This is a no-brainer if the chance is presented to us.
I’ll reiterate that it would be moronic to play outdoors in Tempe week 0. Would ruin the point of tv exposure. Neutral site is only way to go otherwise it’s a waste of time for usAgain your assuming just bc it’s week 0 that primes first game would get more exposure for a late night game in Tempe than a prime time game against TCU. Couldn’t agree more. I don’t like the thought of this at all but if you’re going to do it, it needs to be in Vegas.I’ll reiterate that it would be moronic to play outdoors in Tempe week 0. Would ruin the point of tv exposure. Neutral site is only way to go otherwise it’s a waste of time for us
"More" doesn't matter in the way you phrased it.Again your assuming just bc it’s week 0 that primes first game would get more exposure for a late night game in Tempe than a prime time game against TCU. Hasn’t it already been announced that it’s in Tempe?"More" doesn't matter in the way you phrased it.
Where "more" comes in is that "TCU Week 1 + ASU Week 0" gives a ton more exposure than "TCU Week 1 + ASU Week 5-12". We're adding a national focus game without changing the opponents on our schedule and likely also turning a road game into a neutral game - making more money in the process too.
The only party which might have any reservations is ASU over possibly losing a home date, but neutrals pay more and who knows how they were doing trying to sell 8 home games anyway when interest & attendance were challenging for them in 2022. So I could see them push for Glendale, but I think that Vegas is great for their fans as a driveable game so they'd probably be all over that.
