Colorado-Stanford To Play In Hall Of Fame Series Phoenix

By: Troy Andre, Associate Director/Athletic Communications

BOULDER –
Colorado will face off with former Pac-12 Conference rival Stanford as part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Series Phoenix, Saturday, Dec. 20, at the PHX Arena.

Stanford was 21-14 in 2024-25, finishing seventh in its first year in the Atlantic Coast Conference with an 11-9 record. Under the guidance of head coach Kyle Smith, the Cardinal advanced to the second round of the Postseason NIT.

"We are looking forward to participating in the Phoenix Hall of Fame series and facing a quality opponent in Stanford," Colorado head coach Tad Boyle said. "Playing Stanford in late December will help us prepare for our Big 12 Conference schedule. Our staff is familiar with coach Smith and the fantastic job he did at Washington State while we were in the Pac-12, and we know he has Stanford trending in an upward direction. It will be a great test for both programs."

Colorado holds a 20-11 series lead against Stanford, including wins in the last seven meetings. The teams were conference rivals in the Pac-12 from 2011-24 with the Buffaloes owning a 17-4 mark in those contests. Stanford is 2-0 in neutral court meetings, the first coming in the 1942 NCAA Final Four, a 46-35 Cardinal victory. The second was a 75-69 Stanford win in Kansas City on Dec. 29, 1951, during the Big Seven Christmas Tournament.

The Colorado-Stanford contest is one of two Hall of Fame Phoenix Series matchups. Arizona will face off against San Diego State on the same day at PHX Arena.

Fans can sign up for presale information now at HOFSeries.com. Further details regarding ticketing, game time and broadcast coverage for the event will be shared at a later date.

Big 12 Announces 2025-26 Men’s Schedule Matrix

By: Troy Andre, Associate Director/Athletic Communications

BOULDER –
Home games with historic rivals in Kansas and Arizona highlight Colorado's 2025-26 Big 12 Conference schedule as the league released its entire men's basketball match-up matrix on Thursday.

Big 12 teams will play 18 conference games, two fewer than last season, broken down by home-and-home series with three opponents and single games with the other 12: six home and six away. Opponents were selected to achieve the best balance of the schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be released at a later date.

Seven of Colorado's nine home opponents advanced to postseason play in 2024-25. Along with Arizona and Kansas, the Buffaloes have single home games with Kansas State, Oklahoma State, TCU and UCF. Kansas State and Oklahoma State will visit the CU Events Center for the first time since the 2010-11 season.

Colorado will play a home-and-home series with Arizona State, Utah and 2025 NCAA Elite Eight participant Texas Tech. The home-and-home series with Arizona State is the only one that repeats the Buffaloes' Big 12 pairings from last season.

The Buffaloes will have single road contests at BYU, Baylor, NCAA runner-up Houston, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Iowa State. West Virginia will be the final venue that Colorado has yet to visit among current Big 12 teams. The Buffaloes will play at Cincinnati for the first time since December 1981 and visit Houston for the first time since December 1994.

Dates, times and television for all Big 12 games, along with Colorado's nonconference schedule, will be announced at a later date.

Colorado men's basketball season tickets are on sale now. The deadline for current season ticket holders to renew their seats for the 2025-26 season is Tuesday, July 8. Renew online here or call our season ticket hotline at 303-492-8282.

Just a first glance pass, but the conference slate seems a bit more favorable than last year?
Especially since most of the toughest games are on the road and we'd likely lose a conference road game no matter who we were playing

By: Troy Andre, Associate Director/Athletic Communications

BOULDER –
The University of Colorado men's basketball team will play nine games at home during the nonconference portion of its 2025-26 schedule, head coach Tad Boyle announced on Wednesday.

Colorado's nonconference schedule is front-loaded with home contests. The Buffaloes will play their first five games at the CU Events Center, the most to begin a season since the 1997-98 season.

The Buffaloes open the 2025-26 season against a pair of opponents from the Big Sky Conference. Colorado hosts Montana State on Monday, Nov. 3, before meeting up with Eastern Washington for the second-straight season on Saturday, Nov. 8.

Colorado then brings in a big name from the BIG EAST Conference in Providence College. It will be the first meeting between the Buffaloes and the Friars, who are coached by former CU assistant Kim English. This is the start of a home-and-home series that will see Colorado return to Providence next season.

The Buffaloes wrap up the opening five-game homestand with Alabama State on Monday, Nov. 17, and UC Davis on Friday, Nov. 21. Alabama State claimed the Southwest Athletic Conference Tournament title last season and won an NCAA First Four game before meeting up with top seed Auburn in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Colorado's game against UC Davis is part of the Acrisure Series. Following that contest, the Buffaloes will continue Acrisure Series play with two games in Palm Desert, Calif., Nov. 27-28, against opponents yet to be determined.

Colorado returns home to host California Baptist on Monday, Dec. 1. The Buffaloes then renew the hardwood edition of the Rocky Mountain Showdown at Colorado State in their first true road contest of the season, Saturday, Dec. 6, in Fort Collins.

The Buffaloes finish out the nonconference portion of the schedule with three of four at home. Colorado hosts UTSA on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Portland State on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Following their previously announced Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Series Phoenix game with Stanford on Saturday, Dec. 20, the Buffaloes make their final prep for Big 12 play against 2024-25 Big Sky regular season co-champion Northern Colorado on Sunday, Dec. 28.

Colorado has one exhibition game scheduled. The Buffaloes will host Grace (Ind.) College on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the CU Events Center. Grace is the alma mater of second-year graduate Elijah Malone, the Bevo Francis Award winner and NAIA National Player of the Year in 2023-24 for the Lancers.
