BOULDER – The University of Colorado men's basketball team will play nine games at home during the nonconference portion of its 2025-26 schedule, head coach
Tad Boyle announced on Wednesday.
Colorado's nonconference schedule is front-loaded with home contests. The Buffaloes will play their first five games at the CU Events Center, the most to begin a season since the 1997-98 season.
The Buffaloes open the 2025-26 season against a pair of opponents from the Big Sky Conference. Colorado hosts Montana State on Monday, Nov. 3, before meeting up with Eastern Washington for the second-straight season on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Colorado then brings in a big name from the BIG EAST Conference in Providence College. It will be the first meeting between the Buffaloes and the Friars, who are coached by former CU assistant Kim English. This is the start of a home-and-home series that will see Colorado return to Providence next season.
The Buffaloes wrap up the opening five-game homestand with Alabama State on Monday, Nov. 17, and UC Davis on Friday, Nov. 21. Alabama State claimed the Southwest Athletic Conference Tournament title last season and won an NCAA First Four game before meeting up with top seed Auburn in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Colorado's game against UC Davis is part of the Acrisure Series. Following that contest, the Buffaloes will continue Acrisure Series play with two games in Palm Desert, Calif., Nov. 27-28, against opponents yet to be determined.
Colorado returns home to host California Baptist on Monday, Dec. 1. The Buffaloes then renew the hardwood edition of the Rocky Mountain Showdown at Colorado State in their first true road contest of the season, Saturday, Dec. 6, in Fort Collins.
The Buffaloes finish out the nonconference portion of the schedule with three of four at home. Colorado hosts UTSA on Saturday, Dec. 13 and Portland State on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Following their previously announced Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Series Phoenix game with Stanford on Saturday, Dec. 20, the Buffaloes make their final prep for Big 12 play against 2024-25 Big Sky regular season co-champion Northern Colorado on Sunday, Dec. 28.
Colorado has one exhibition game scheduled. The Buffaloes will host Grace (Ind.) College on Sunday, Oct. 19, at the CU Events Center. Grace is the alma mater of second-year graduate
Elijah Malone, the Bevo Francis Award winner and NAIA National Player of the Year in 2023-24 for the Lancers.
