'23 FL CB Cormani McClain (Signed to COLORADO)

In all seriousness, it feels like most of the time 5 stars means CU should stay away.
Other than Prime and Coach Mac, maybe GB before the admin threw him under the bus, when has CU had anything close to 5 star coaches?

With Coach Mac we had a bunch of guys who under the current system would have been 5* recruits.

I'm looking at the quality of young men that Prime is recruiting and I think Cormani will become the exception.

100x? I am willing to bet there is a higher teen suicide rate for bullying and pressure of grades from parents, than there is for football players that commit suicide who don't make it to the NFL. Not sure how suicide became a post in CM's thread but okay.
Anyone who has raised a child knows how mentally tough the teen years are for too many. The suicide stats go to that fact. Likely this kid has been overwhelmed since he was 14

Clearly, our coaching staff has no idea what, “five-star” means!
coaching staff criticized Cormani over lack of watching film, then went out and either did not put the time in to see film of north dakota state or didn't understand what they were seeing.. as for all intensive purposes the wide open to expoit deep ball on offense and need to play zone on defense were largely overlooked and that d stayed in man when so many could see they should not have been in man.. see buffedinprime analysis onyoutube.

You do know that Shedeur threw for 440 yards and had two TD passes over 40 yard right?

This is certainly a take

you don't need to see much more film than cormani might watch to see man was wrong defense to be in most of the time against ndsu.. if only that game is your concern.. for season, maybe it will improve eye discipline of woods and dbs.. but why so much man?
It wasn't most of the game, you're continuing to ignore adjustments made

Yes there was some zone pass coverage in second half, but still not enough considering running QB and film from Wyoming for coach and last year for NDSU. For game, while PFF might claim more zone D, I doubt more than 15-16 total D coverages were not man to man. and.. some of the man to man did not appear to be well coached, just like last year on for instance crossing routes. Hopefully, more coaching adjustments including in preparation and practice will be made and we will see better play and play calling for D against Nebraska. But back to the film room and Cormani, going into game it sure does not appear the game plan and prep made use of what was to be seen in watching film before the game.

NDSU did just about nothing for 2.5 quarters, this is a laughable hill to die on

Listed as a starter for the Gators this year so it looks like he’s figured it out. Unfortunate that it didn’t work out here

Good for him, I hope he has a good season. I'm glad it looks like he has turned it around and did some growing up. I always root for former Buffs that move across the country taking a chance here. After all, when they come in as Frosh they are 17-18; are usually coddled in High School; fall in love with all the accolades and high rating; and for a player like Cormani he was probably not at thrown at a ton. Definitely, he needed to hit the weight room, grow physically/mentally, and just mature. In hindsight, I do not think the spotlight/pressure of the 2023 season was good for him, but necessary given we totally flipped the roster. Could be a different story if he arrived last year or this year. It is rare to pencil in a True-Frosh starter at CB in the P-4.

I think early transfers is just part of doing business when teams recruit HS athletes, as so many of them hit the portal and a ton of blue chips do wash out, not as many 5*. Hard work and patience is key for these young players. Also, not being in the spotlight to produce right away is helpful. Compare his situation to Jujus, although I confess they are vastly different players/personalities, I'm sure Juju will get some reps and play if Salter falters, but he is really set up for a year to get adjusted, rather than a firm expectation that he substantially contribute in year 1.
