They won't cut him and anyone trading for him wouldn't give much knowing that without a large new contract he would only be there for a year.

Right now he is by far their best WR and they need him. After this year is a completely different story.
Teams will definitely trade for him. The lack of a long-term contract may actually be a benefit if we're talking about a mid-season trade to a team poised for a playoff run in need of a WR. I doubt his value is high in the preseason and I even question whether his trade value will ever be higher than the comp pick Denver will be awarded if he leaves after the season as a FA.

They also likely don't have to worry about him not putting in the effort even if it is clear that they aren't going to re-sign him at the price he thinks he is worth. This is a contract year, if he dogs it he is only costing himself a lot of money.
