Holy ****ing **** what is happening, this is like the early days of Prime but somehow even better. First Oatis (best defensive player in the portal) now Salter. Give the man a lifetime contract already.

Maybe Juju beats him out for the starting job but if he doesn't it would be extremely beneficial for Juju's development AND the team for him to learn under Salter for a year and then take over. After all Juju is only 17 and reclassified.
Only thing is paying Juju 2mil to redshirt.

He may very well be QB1. It's probably the best case scenario for CU to go the Texas route with Ewers/Arch and I assume this was always the plan and one that they already spoke with Juju about. That said, I would put the odds that Salter is QB1 as a coin flip. 17 or not, Juju is legit.
The normal rule of thumb is that a veteran who has started games goes in as your QB1 and anyone else would have to win the job from him.

JuJu does have the credibility of leading his hs team to the state title game in GA's highest classification as a high school freshman. The problem is the jump in competition from high school to P4 football is steeper than what Shedeur had to endure and Shedeur already had two college seasons under his belt whereas JuJu has zero.

With Manning sitting for a year or DJ Lagway being eased into a starting role then Juju having stiff competition makes perfect sense. Salter also makes landing top portal receivers more of a possibility. The Buffs have a legit QB room and one that has many in the P4 would like to have.

JuJu has alien level processing. He is already Him level.

Yeah it's not a bad thing. It's just the thing we got to do now.

And probably a trend that will be further amplified if Arch Manning has a strong season next year.

I get that some people love to dabble in recruiting...not me because I am more interested in proven performance than potential.

They aren't bringing in Juju to redshirt. He isn't going to be in Boulder 5 years

If he isn't looking at the NFL draft in 3/4 years he will have been a failure and will almost certainly be transferred out to a G5 school.

Prime doesn't play the silly games with players. There are guys he brings in with every expectation of starting and even the guy without those expectations will play and start if he earns it.

A lot of possibilities here now.

Salter with his experience could win the job and hold it all season, in that case we still see Juju play when they can to speed his development.

Salter could win he starting job and as the season goes on and Juju gets accustomed he takes over.

Juju starts the season, is the starter all year but we see Salter in back-up duty.

Small chance that Juju starts the season and as time goes by defenses and the level catches up with him like it did Riola but in this case Salter finishes the year as the starter.

And a long list of possibilities depending on injuries.

Bottom line is that both know that the best player will play, the other will get his chances based on what he has earned. Both are quality competitors who are willing to put themselves up to the job.

While I’m taking my victory lap, I will say it one more time.

We are a have, not a have not. This is how elite programs do it. Time for our fanbase to get that through our heads!

Juju didn’t come here due to a guarantee to start right away. He came here to get the best chance of being NFL ready in 3 years.

Glad to have him here, probably means for sure that Staub moves on, and Ponder is QB3, which is just fine.
The competition will be awesome, but I still believe that Juju is also generational and will win the starting job
My win total is set at a minimum of 9 from now on

Yeah I was thinking there was a chance for a losing season next year but now with Salter, a winning season can be expected no matter what.
lucious lyon wtf GIF

Even with our personnel losses, there is no way we were going to have a losing season next year. C’mon.
