Signed to CU '25 TNFR QB Kaidon Salter (Signed to COLORADO)

Even with our personnel losses, there is no way we were going to have a losing season next year. C’mon.
Dude

They aren't bringing in Juju to redshirt. He isn't going to be in Boulder 5 years

If he isn't looking at the NFL draft in 3/4 years he will have been a failure and will almost certainly be transferred out to a G5 school.

Prime doesn't play the silly games with players. There are guys he brings in with every expectation of starting and even the guy without those expectations will play and start if he earns it.

A lot of possibilities here now.

Salter with his experience could win the job and hold it all season, in that case we still see Juju play when they can to speed his development.

Salter could win he starting job and as the season goes on and Juju gets accustomed he takes over.

Juju starts the season, is the starter all year but we see Salter in back-up duty.

Small chance that Juju starts the season and as time goes by defenses and the level catches up with him like it did Riola but in this case Salter finishes the year as the starter.

And a long list of possibilities depending on injuries.

Bottom line is that both know that the best player will play, the other will get his chances based on what he has earned. Both are quality competitors who are willing to put themselves up to the job.
Yeah, I was being a bit facetious. But it could end up he’s the qb2 which is similar to “redshirting.”

Would be similar except that with a prospect like Juju even if he is the backup they are going to be focused on developing him which means they will be looking for every opportunity to get him playing time. The odds of him appearing in less than 5 games are pretty slim if he is healthy.

I remember when I was told that Juju was guaranteed the starting job by multiple people...

Anyways. Can't wait to play CFB 26 with Salter.

I admit to most recently being on the side of Juju essentially being handed QB1. HOWEVER, a few months back (I can't find the thread right now) I mentioned that I had heard they would sign Juju and also make a splash QB signing in the portal. I was told by people here at the time that there was zero chance of that happening because we didn't have the money. I should have maintained my original position on the subject, but it always felt odd that they would sign a transfer with options and only one year left, to compete with a 5* Freshman.

I'm glad to have been wrong with my most recent assertion.

Back on topic. Buff**** made believe it wasn’t possible to get a guy like salter and Juju I always assumed we had to choose.

Probably someone else has pointed this out and I missed it.

Kaidon Salter and a guy named Shedeur Sanders were both QBs in Cedar Hill, TX coming out in 2021.
Kaidon went to Cedar Hill H.S. and signed with Tennessee.
Shedeur went to Trinity Christian H.S. and signed with JSU.

Might have been a connection here..... :unsure: I'm guessing they know each other very, very well and this was in the pipeline for some time.

Interesting to go back and look at the Quarterback class of 2021 on 247.
Our guy here, #7.
Also fun to look at the 36 Quarterbacks rated above Shedeur in his high school class.

A lot of moving around.....

#1 Quinn Ewers - Ohio St -> UT and may transfer again to make room for Arch?
#2 Caleb Williams - USC - lived up
#3 Sam Huard - UW -> Cal Poly SLO -> Utah -> ???
#4 Vandagriff - UGA - > KY had a meh year at UK
#5 Drake Maye - UNC - Pats QB now
#6 JJ McCarthy - UM - lived up
#7 Kaidon Salter - Tenn -> Liberty -> Colorado
#8 McCord - lived up
#9 Ty Thompson - Oregon -> Tulane and was not the starter or primary backup, but was used in running packages
#10 Tyler Buchner - moved to WR and does not see PT
#11 Behren Morton - will leave Texas Tech as the #10 rated passer for 2024.
#12 Eli Stowers - Texas A&M - then transferred to NMSU where he converted to Tight End and just competed for Vanderbilt at TE.
#13 Jaxson Dart - USC - > Ole Miss will get drafted
#14 Jalen Milroe - Alabama
#15 Miller Moss - USC - > transferring
#16 Jake Garcia - Miami -> ECU
#17 Kyron Drones - Baylor -> VT
#18 Preston Stone - SMU -> NWU
#19 Garrett Nussmeier - LSU (starting QB)
#20 Bubba Chandler - signed with Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher
#21 Sawyer Robertson - signed Miss State - transferred to Baylor 2023 and starter in 2024
#22 Dematrius Davis - Auburn -> Alabama State -> UTSA
#23 Clay Millen - (once a KD priority) - Nevada/CSU -> Florida

Lots of information in here.

Nice family. He's such a good fit for the CU culture based on his mom describing him as a guy who plays with a big smile on his face, celebrating by doing backflips on the field. Loved the stuff about his visit including a film session with Shurmur with him diagnosing defenses and the maturity around his answer about being a veteran mentor for JuJu (who he knew from being a player assistant at Elite 11).
