Alamo Bowl - Colorado vs. BYU—Dec 28— 5:30 PM—ABC

I’m not suggesting replacing all 15 or 20 volunteers, but it seems to me that they are badly in need of some additional professional leadership beyond the one person in charge of the program.

And I’m officially bored with arguing about this topic already. 😂
Tatanka is kinda right here folks.

There aren't a whole lot of kids who grew up on, near, or around cattle ranches attending CU these days.

It used to be that if you wanted to be a Ralphie handler, but had never spent any time around cattle, you were politely told to **** off.

From what I've seen, that's not really the case anymore - mostly because those students generally no longer exist in Boulder, so it can't be a requirement.

I'd put $100 down that any college that fields a rodeo team would have zero problems training a buffalo to run.

The handlers kinda look like 6 year olds trying to train a dog. Not going well and time for the adults to step in.

All the Handlers have ranch experience, have you seen them? It is not the freaking handlers, sadly it is Embers personality. She was a runt, she is not aggressive, and she does not want to do it. We just had the dog thread about putting them to sleep and many are way too aggressive on this poor sweet buffalo.
Tough choices might need to be made, or she is still too young and they believe she will grow into it.
Chill out

My son knew one of the female handlers who graduated last year. There was no reason to have her near a live buffalo if we’re being honest. She passed “the tests” whatever the fvck that’s worth/about?
The DEI tests.

Maybe we need to start tasing her like they do for bull riding

Yes, there are professionals who know how to get a bovine to run and go where they want it to go.

They're called cowboys, and it's been a profession in this country for a couple centuries.
“cowboy” sounds like a completely different thing than “professional live bison mascot trainer”. I don’t think the typical cowboy trains live bison mascots.

That's not my point, and I don't think anyone had made that point except maybe tounge in cheek.
No, you went full Mtn and splained CU demographics to us.

Seriously, this thread is full stupid right now.

I grew up on a ranch, spent a lot of time on horseback, raising and showing cattle. I may have even had sexual relations with sheep.

I’m comfortable around livestock (though they’re nervous around me).

Nothing really makes ranch kids uniquely suitable for (checks notes) training a buffalo to run around a football field in front of 50,000 people.

Different animals have different personalities.

The training protocols for Ralphie training/running are the best in the world because (checks notes again) CU is the only organization that runs a live buffalo around a football field in front of 50,000 people.

STFU up with this wrong kids/wrong training lamentations and longings for buffaloes of yesteryear and sit down and watch another episode of Yellowstone.

I acknowledge that Ember isn’t great at this, but these speculations are embarrassing.

We all grieve in our own way.

And I say all the handlers need to be expelled and/or executed. Agree to disagree.

some of the takes in this thread are full medford.

There are many things I think about to improve the football program. Having this particular ralphie behave this particular way is not on the list.
