Alamo Bowl - Colorado vs. BYU—Dec 28— 5:30 PM—ABC

Why not Dave Logan?

Maybe Andre Gurode? Does he coach, does it matter?

Get a Ouija connection to Irv Brown?

Is Alex Gibbs alive, if not patch him in through the Ouija as well? Can we lobby the NCAA to make his run blocking schemes that won Super Bowls legal again?

Deadass, I think all of those suggestions are better than McRoid Shrunken Cheesedick

I was hoping we'd kick the tires on O'boyle coming back

I am serious. After years of this, something has got to change. I’d rather see no run than what we saw at the Alamo Bowl. Maybe the handlers are terrible, maybe Ember doesn’t have the temperament for this. Maybe it’s both. But this was Ember’s 4th year and she seems to be getting worse. You would think there would be some improvement if the trainers were good. Or they’d be training a replacement already if Ember is untrainable. But I acknowledge that I know nothing about training large animals. 🤷🏽‍♂️
Has it really been 4 years? I thought it was only 2 or 3.

I agree that Ember isn’t working, but replacing students in one of the coolest traditions anywhere feels like the ****tiest non-political take I’ve personally witnessed in 2024.

I’m not suggesting replacing all 15 or 20 volunteers, but it seems to me that they are badly in need of some additional professional leadership beyond the one person in charge of the program.

And I’m officially bored with arguing about this topic already. 😂

Things get weird when dads and kids are involved. I've seen plenty of parents who can't see clearly when it comes to their own kids' shortcomings. They mostly then blame their kids' failures on their coaches.
Yeah and while we look at Feely and don't see him like Jay does, Jay probably thinks his son is easily better than Mata even though we seen his son and it was really bad.

That said, he has more information into ST than most of us do. Maybe he's right. At the end of the day, it's not like they have been performing well. PFF has them as the 82th best unit. ESPN had them in the 100s.

is that what this is?

After sleeping the disappointment away I’m still pretty thrilled how the season turned out. I didn’t think they would win again after the Nebraska game. I am still amazed I got to watch some good football out of a CU team. Felt like it was 2001!
Perspective is important I say. I was hoping for 7 - and instead we got 9, were in contention for the playoff and had a heisman trophy winner. Gotta appreciate that after the last 20 years

This isn’t about the validity of Jay’s comment. It’s about the highly visible and well known father of a player basically subtweeting Prime himself multiple times calling him out for being absent in his duties as a head coach.

Jay and Prime have/had a relationship from many years of working together at NFLN and that is presumably why Jay’s son came here. If Jay has a problem, he probably should have gone straight to CP and not aired it publicly.

When it comes to Travis, we never hear about his RAS-level athleticism. When it comes to things Coach Reyes tests for and other guys who test all athletes for, he's always the best they have ever seen at it.

It's kinda like Luka Doncic. His regular testing athletic ability isn't great but his in-between athleticism is the best in the world plus he's also big and strong.

When scouts bring back the reports on Travis, coaches are going to be the ones who will care about it the most except GMs who played the game. I can see Travis being the top on the board but not that high compared to previous years but when the coaches see the data and the film, they will go bonkers for Hunter.

Coaches are going to be the biggest fans of Shedeur and Travis, especially Shedeur. Travis already has a lot of respect coming in, but with Shedeur, it’s what I keep hearing: “He’s so much better than I thought after watching all the tape.” Shedeur reminds me of guys like Tebow, Manziel, Leinart, and Vince Young—there’s always a lot of noise around players like them. It’s like trying to evaluate someone in a political debate; opinions are so strong that every win and loss feels amplified. With Shedeur, the key will be cutting through the noise and letting his game speak for itself.

I went back and rewatched every Joe Burrow game from LSU, and one thing stood out: his junior year wasn’t drastically different on film compared to his senior year. As a junior, I didn’t even see him as an NFL QB prospect, but by his senior year, he was one of the best I’ve ever seen. The key difference was the massive improvement in his situation. His teammates took a huge leap forward, there was a coaching change in the offensive room, and their offensive system—especially the use of "doubles"—became one of the most unstoppable schemes in college football history. It was like the equivalent of spamming jet sweeps in CFB 25.

It’s not that Burrow himself improved drastically. If anything, we misjudged his junior tape. In hindsight, he was already a first-round talent, but we overlooked him because of external factors like team performance and noise around big-game results. We probably hammered him too much on the negative plays, when in reality, he had solid tape even then. It’s a good reminder of how much context matters when evaluating talent.

WTF am I doing with my spare time?
