Right, but you consistently look to Alabama as the benchmark, which is just not realistic, regardless of anything that's been said by Rick George and MT.
It takes a special kind of personnel to execute the 3-4. Notwithstanding some studs at other universities, CU does not have the required personnel and skill to properly execute a 3-4. Yet.

Understand that, but there’s definitely an in between what CU has at the OLB position and what Bama has at OLB.

Well are we running a 1 gap or 2 gap 3-4? 1 gap is pretty much what we think a 4-3 is. The d-line personnel doesn’t have to be that particular. We did try a 2 gap 3-4 in ‘17 and we did not have the dudes. Very few teams do, Alabama doesn’t even run that. Stanford did for a time successfully under Harbaugh.

Asking a d-lineman to handle his OL and be able to find the ball on either side of him is a bitch.

I feel so much better with Sparaco back. Whew.

Glad for him. Hope to see him return in the future as an assistant.
This. It's usually not really good for someone's entire career to be in one organization - it often holds people back from learning and achieving the most they possibly could.

I know there are other (and truthfully more important) reasons besides career achievement that has kept Hagan from pursuing opportunities outside of Boulder, but I do think that he's not as good of a coach and recruiter as he could have been as a result.

What are the odds that HCMT was waiting for Lupoi to come free to offer him our last AC spot?
Probably zero, but maybe we have a shot.
Even if he goes to the Browns at least he is not recruiting the west coast for some other team.

zero to negative one billion

not to put words in his mouth but @sliderNcider 's HUH was about the idea that Lupoi would take a demotion to come here...not the browns part
