Bracketology 2013/2014

zona trying to lose their lock on the #1 overall seed right now...

Beavs ended up going cold and getting out-athleted at the end, but a nice effort from them.

And as bad as Walton was rooting for UCLA against CU, the color guy on that broadcast set a new record tonight for loss of impartiality by an announcer...

EDIT: It was Gary Payton. I guess he wasn't the color guy, they just had him linked in from the studio....

I came home expecting to read the board basically unanimously having us "in." I guess not. Rivals too. The CU fan base is paranoid

Unless the Selection Committee changes the way it has operated for years, we'll be able to go through things on Selection Sunday and see the following:

1. At-large bids will go almost to chalk to the RPI ranks.
2. Exceptions to that will be driven by non-conference SOS.
3. Seeds 1-6 in the 4 brackets will go almost to chalk to the AP Top 25.
4. Other seeds will be driven by RPI, travel, avoiding early matchups between teams from the same conference, and what could generate a "hook" for tv in the rounds of 64 and 32.

Accurate but with one caveat. They did adjust the playing the same team or in conference team early protocol this year. Would provide specific details if not on my phone.

Loved Walton when the CU resume came up with "at Utah" as the "bad loss". Walton was like, "Utah is 18-2 at home! How is that a bad loss?".

Walton rocks.
Why did they have the Oregon State win a good win and Oregon not listed?

How impressive is CU not having a sub 100 loss (or any loss below Washington who's in the low 80s)? Well, Duke and Syracuse EACH have 2 sub 100 losses.

You don't find Lunardi dropping CU significantly in 48 relatively quiet hours odd? It's not like we had a weekend of chaos. It was clearly a political move for their BPI.

All I can think is that with Oregon's win on Tuesday he basically swapped Oregon and CU, because he had Oregon as one of the last 4 in before their win over ASU.

NCAA basketball teams across the country gathered in front of televisions today to see the latest unveiling of bracketologist Joe Lunardi’s seeding projections for the NCAA tournament. The picks are Lunardi’s 16th edition of the season, the first coming back on November 7th before the season even tipped.

“This is pretty huge,” said Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin of the analyst’s projection. “In November he had us as the 11-seed in the West, then by early February we were the 3-seed in the East and then a few days ago he had us as the 4-seed in the South. What will today bring? We can hardly handle the suspense. Where will we be theoretically playing and against who according to one guy? AAAH! I can’t stand it!”

Cronin admits the big swings in seedings and region have made it difficult for his team to focus throughout the season.

“That’s how it is for all teams, though,” he said. “Every coach deals with this. You call a timeout late in the game and a kid says: ‘Coach, if we hit this shot, do you think we have a chance at being projected as a 3-seed in the East or possibly the 2-seed in the Midwest? And if not by Joe Lunardi, then maybe by that guy with CBS Sports with the hair?’ I hear that pretty much every game. And I can’t blame them. I think about it, too.”

San Diego or San Antonio would be awesome. Hopefully it's not some *****hole like Buffalo where 10 CU fans would attend
