I already don’t.Maybe. I think they’ll be fine. People will still watch.

Sounds like YOU’RE the one killing all the bowls.I already don’t.
Just less and less slowly. But sure.Maybe. I think they’ll be fine. People will still watch.

Not if there's a playoff game on another channel.Maybe. I think they’ll be fine. People will still watch.
Buddy, the networks aren’t going to do that. Not if there's a playoff game on another channel.
When do they go to class now?Theyre students, not employees. When are they supposed to go to class?
Ummm, have they invented ways to put more than 24 hours in a day?Buddy, the networks aren’t going to do that.
Just less and less slowly. But sure.
They’ll probably just play the bowls throughout the week like they have been for the last 20 years.Ummm, have they invented ways to put more than 24 hours in a day?
I'm actually serious. On a three day holiday weekend, you have about 35 hours of time in which you can broadcast a game and expect all but a few die hards to tune in.
A game broadcast lasts about 3.5 hours. Keep in mind that the No Fun League also has games that will be broadcast.
So now, please tell me how you expect a bowl game with, at best, teams ranked in the teens, to not get scheduled against either a college playoff game or an NFL playoff (or regular season game with playoff implications) game? And once they're scheduled against that, do you really think they'll get a lot of people to tune in?
If they're not a substantial part of the college playoff system, you *will* kill the bowls <full stop>.
Because the Rose Bowl will be fine with #14 vs #23 played on a random Tuesday night. They’ll probably just play the bowls throughout the week like they have been for the last 20 years.
College football bowl game schedule: Dates, times and matchups
The College Football Playoff will begin on Dec. 31 with the championship in Indy on Jan. 10. Here is the complete bowl schedule.www.google.com
You know the Rose Bowl was played in Texas this year right? The precedent is already set to have the NY6 games played wherever. The communities and businesses that won't get tourism revenue may not like it, but the TV and sponsor revenue will still pour in like normal.Because the Rose Bowl will be fine with #14 vs #23 played on a random Tuesday night.
Here’s my point. Why does college football need to bend over backwards for the Rose Bowl or any other bowl? I LOVE bowl season. I love watching the Rose Bowl. I don’t want them to go away at all. But the NCAA doesn’t need to do everything to please the bowl system.Because the Rose Bowl will be fine with #14 vs #23 played on a random Tuesday night.

Check out this podcast with Dan Wetzel, Pat Forde and Pete Thamel. Start at about 9 minutes in where they discuss the expanded playoff and bowl game situation a little. The pandering to these bowl games is ridiculous and is only a thing anymore because the decision makers in college football typically have a financial stake in some of the individual bowl games.
They also talk about your question about preference of being 4 seed with a bye or 5 seed with a home game.
Millions more people sitting home with nothing to do? Ok.I think all TV ratings from 2020-2021 seasons should be ignored. Every league/sport was down.
Those points adds to the problem, no subtract from it.FIFY
Oh, and what’s it now - putting your body at extraordinary long term danger, more games, more practices, etc. so the powers that be make more dough.
Students tho.
Not sure what your point is. But all ratings were down for all leagues.Millions more people sitting home with nothing to do? Ok.
Not sure using this instance caused by a global pandemic in an attempt to try and establish some sort of normalcy is necessary setting a precedence. You know the Rose Bowl was played in Texas this year right? It won’t happen because the decision makers in CFB have too much personal financial stake in the Bowl games happening in their current form, but they could easily make the change. Feldman also talked about this on his podcast yesterday saying the Bowls don’t have the power they used to and it’s kind of a corrupt situation with the people who are keeping them going for personal financial gainNot sure using this instance caused by a global pandemic in an attempt to try and establish some sort of normalcy is necessary setting a precedence.
The bowls are glorified and better marketed spring games unless you have an emotional attachment to them as you grew up with them.
If Bowlsby’s notes could talk, they’d tell you that the working group of three commissioners—Bowlsby, Greg Sankey (SEC) and Craig Thompson (Mountain West)—and one athletic director, Jack Swarbrick (Notre Dame), examined nearly 100 playoff models, one of which even included a 24-team bracket.
They’d tell you that the four men seriously toyed with leaving the format at four teams but with an adjustment: moving selection date to early January, after bowls were completed. In fact, the group discussed brackets of seven and nine teams that included play-in games.
...
Finally, Bowlsby’s notes would tell you that the group had mostly reached consensus on the number of participants in their playoff proposal (12) even before the pandemic arrived, some 15 months ahead of last week’s unveiling.
