Shedeur can be a top 5-10 pick and the 3rd or 4th QB this year, OR, can be the Heisman Trophy Winner and #1 Pick the following year and possibly help his dad win a Natty. Need 4-5 absolute Dawgs on the OL to protect him and he can do anything he wants
Is that why the broncos are tanking early? Keep Shedeur in Colorado!

Okay, the broncos may just suck, but if it puts them in the Shedeur lottery... shoot, I'm used to teams sucking.

This might sound dumb (I haven't completed my entire thought yet, but what the ****)

With NIL, the viewership and national attention the Buffs are gaining, and the Flatirons (duh)...Shedeur doesn't need the NFL! Buffs>Broncos>Panthers>Cardinals etc...

It's a tough spot for him as the season progresses, and the next two games could mean everything
What if he totally outplays Caleb Williams and Bo Nix?
He could go and be successful and the difference is a few million dollars and getting your NFL clock started, but he will have a great life next year playing again for the Buffs, and he becomes the Caleb Williams of 2024.
Heisman Front Runner, very marketable, CFP, and helping Dad try for a Natty

And next year's Big12 will be NOTHING like this year's Pac12. We can absolutely run that sh!t.

Even if the reported nil value of $4.1m is true, top 5 nfl draft picks make $35m+ fully guaranteed. The difference is that, as a family, they have generational wealth so he and Shilo might be willing/able to forego that to make a run at a championship and then both go to the nfl with Travis in 2025. Both Shedeur and Travis being top 5 picks in the same year would be crazy

If he's potentially a top 10 draft pick, he's not passing up on the guaranteed contract. He's not stupid.

People forget that PFM passed up a top 10 pick to come back his senior year and win a MNC.

I will note that the Mannings also took out an insurance policy against injury with the payout equal to the guaranteed contract amount.

Bottom line: you can insure over the injury risk if you know how. You can't insure over the "failed to perform at the same level" risk, but given the confidence on display, I don't anyone in that family views that as a real risk.

In 99.9999% of cases, yes. But we are talking about a special case where your dad jumped to a job partially for you, and there is a golden opportunity to help your dad to win the NC while still maintain the top 10 draft pick status.

I won't be surprised if he comes back.

Not only that, but a really good chance he goes from being the 3rd QB pick in 2023 to being the #1 overall pick in 2024. Something about the prestige of #1 overall would be appealing, I would think. I still think it's like 60-40 he goes into the draft next year, but it's not a slam dunk.
