College Basketball News, Rumor and Humor

On back-to-back days in Maui, I watched this man have to be physically restrained by *multiple* assistants. I'm sure, had I been there for day 3, I'd have seen the same. Hell, I'm pretty sure 85% of one of the assistant's jobs is just to be there to keep him from assaulting someone.

1) Yes, the cameras find him too easily.
2) That's largely because his antics make for good fodder; in some ways, I think he plays up for the camera. It's a feedback loop of jackassery.
3) He has anger issues, and I hope he sees someone about them before he either keels over or gets himself banned and has to go coach in Belarus or some ****.
4) These issues seem to run in the family; I assume it's a learned response passed on from their father.
5) You don't have to be like him or Bobby Knight to have success. Working the refs is one thing; being a damaged, deranged jackass is another entirely.

The old man was an ass back in his St. Anthony's days too. Bullying the refs always, playing up his long time big fish in a small pond thing. The sons learned from the old man. At least Bobby seems to restrain himself. I've actually grown to pull for him over time. It's not easy for a Jersey kid to travel all the way to Tempe and build something, or at least try. He's had multiple chances to coach smaller programs in the Northeast. He deserves respect for that, in my view.

Danny, on the other hand, seems like he's one bad call away from an ugly encounter with law enforcement.
