College Football News, Rumor & Humor

Except that would probably dissuade some players from looking at Tennessee and it’s an easy negative recruiting talking for other schools.
You think some other school is going to use a recruiting pitch of, "Unlike Tennessee, we would never have a problem with it if you tried to bend us over and go in dry by holding out for a bigger bag at the end of Spring ball. We understand it's just business and would just come up with more money while saluting your initiative."

The issue for Nico and Tennessee is how late it occurred. There have probably been many cases behind close doors where similar situations have played out. This one got to the media and could not be buried in the post regular season portal news cycle. Both sides will be have to work quickly while trying to save face. Nico has problem, but having to pivot from him so late in a cycle will be more difficult than what Nico has to do.

No I think it will be something along the lines of

“Tennessee sues its players/former players if they do something they don’t like, is that really a team you’d want to be apart of”

It’s not like these negative recruiting pitches are logical. It’s simply a quick one or two liner that’s enough to plant a seed of doubt. Doesn’t matter if Tennessee is within their right to do so.

Booting your Heisman candidate QB from the team the day before your Spring Game is certainly a decision. I suppose if he was really trying to shake them down for an absurd amount of money, I get it, but hard to imagine Tennessee being competitive in the SEC without him
I don’t think this level of production is going to be that wildly difficult to replace. Don’t understand the Heisman hype.

I’m aware that he missed Fridays practice, which was said to be unexpected. Haven’t seen anything about him missing the entire Spring.

Regardless, not sure that changes anything about my post. He’s the 6th leading Heisman candidate right now. Widely considered a top 4-5 QB in the sport right now.

He wouldn't have even been considered top 5 in the SEC for 2025

He’s literally a top 6 Heisman candidate, so I disagree with that sentiment

Heisman odds are mostly based on reputation and who you play for plus his team is coming off a CFP appearance, which helps. But as far as top QB's for 2025 he doesn't crack the top 10 on some lists:

These players have more power than most NFL players. Until there is someone willing to govern, I'm okay with schools/ coaches setting this precedent.

Isn’t it like interviewing for a new job in confidence and then the interviewer calls your employer to let them know you’re looking around?

And isn’t it an unwritten rule that you don’t do that?
