College Football News, Rumor & Humor

Indiana sucks.
By 1922 Indiana had the largest Klan organization of any U.S. state, and its membership continued to increase dramatically under the leadership of D.C. Stephenson. It averaged 2,000 new members per week from July 1922 to July 1923, the month when Stephenson was appointed Grand Dragon of Indiana. He led the Indiana Klan, and other KKK chapters he supervised, to break away from the national organization in late 1923.

Indiana's Klan was one of the strongest in the country, with a large percentage of the entire White Protestant male population being members. It reached its peak of power at around 250,000 members. By 1925, over half the elected members of the Indiana General Assembly, the Governor of Indiana, and many other high-ranking officials in local and state government were members of the Klan. Politicians in many areas learned they needed the Klan's endorsement to win office.

Based on that, I allow them to use a seal. Or a SEAL.

Or be one?

Coastal Carolina Athletics will partner with its concessionaire Aramark to allow fans to eat free at Chanticleers Football games inside Brooks Stadium this fall, Chance Miller, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and University Recreation announced Monday.

"Our fans are the heartbeat of Teal Nation, and we're always looking for ways to elevate their game day experience," Miller said. "With the CCU Kickoff Meal Deal, we're excited to offer free concessions this fall as a way to say thank you for the energy, passion and support they bring to Brooks Stadium every game."

Ticket-purchasing patrons visiting the concession stands will be able to acquire four items per concession stand visit from a selection of hot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks. There is no limit to the number of in-game visits, but fans must scan each trip through the line with the soon-to-be-launched Coastal Carolina Athletics App.

(Assuming this is real and not an early April Fools joke)

Oof. Tough spot for the school. You could “punish” the player. No access to facilities or something but then he can just portal out if they do. This should have been a foreseen outcome

This will likely come to a head soon because their spring game is tomorrow

I wonder if this screws up his academic semester. Would become a much bigger story if this causes him to be ineligible in 2025. If I'm Tennessee, I'm saying he is in breach of his agreements, make him pay out of pocket for the current semester and also sue him for breach of his NIL agreement.

I’ll ask again - how does the university have any sway over his NIL contracts?

The football operation and AD absolutely arrange the NIL connection. Just not allowed to directly negotiate it. But unless we're talking about something like Caitlin with State Farm, this is not like a pro player's agent finding an endorsement deal. Rather, it's the university approaching boosters to funnel money through a collective or orchestrating something with a car dealership to sign a player. We shouldn't pretend that it's hands off and unaffiliated.

But is it legal for the university to negotiate NIL breach of contracts?

Not to negotiate. But to talk to the Collective administrator and say, "Fvck this guy. He's gone and he created a huge team problem on the way out. Feel free and know that you are encouraged to aggressively pursue any breach clauses and sue for damages."

I like this because it's a win-win for everyone that's not Tennessee. The players get a dramatic example of what happens when you **** around too much, setting a much needed example, AND Tennessee will have a very hard time not looking like the bad guy; I mean they'd try hard not to look like the bad guy, but they'd fail, probably spectacularly.

Maybe I missed something, but How do you know he’s in breach of his NIL contract?

Except that would probably dissuade some players from looking at Tennessee and it’s an easy negative recruiting talking for other schools.

Nico was pretty mid last year, Tennessee made the right call. Although I don’t know what they will do at QB.

I hope Nico gets less than he was getting at Tennessee although that’s probably unlikely given the value of QBs in the portal. But it would be funny if he ended up getting screwed because of all of this.

Booting your Heisman candidate QB from the team the day before your Spring Game is certainly a decision. I suppose if he was really trying to shake them down for an absurd amount of money, I get it, but hard to imagine Tennessee being competitive in the SEC without him

I mean you are aware that he's sat out all spring practice, right?

I’m aware that he missed Fridays practice, which was said to be unexpected. Haven’t seen anything about him missing the entire Spring.

Regardless, not sure that changes anything about my post. He’s the 6th leading Heisman candidate right now. Widely considered a top 4-5 QB in the sport right now.
