BYU has no chance at the playoff this year with their schedule. I think they know that and think the only minimal chance they may have is to stand pat and hope all of the P5 conferences are in chaos with losses at the end of the year. One game won't change anything. Still pretty ridiculous they wouldn't play.

Playing (and if you're them beating) a Pac 12 opponent might be key for them overtaking Cincinnati for the G5 NY6 spot though.
I can understand the strategy of BYU. But you don't get to say your brand is play anyone anywhere and then get picky. Well you can but you get mocked for it
