College Football Realignment

I don't think the football powers get pissed off at have a few easy "power" conference wins. As long as it's only 2-3 schools/conference, I think everyone is happy. And, let's be honest, we can all name the 2-3 schools/conference it would be.

UNC and UCLA may have some soul searching to do, but most of the basketball schools already know what they are.
What's been a little weird is that with football driving realignment and there being fear of being left behind, basketball schools have been plowing a lot more of their resources into football. Once things settle, I wonder if that can change. North Carolina and Kansas trying to become football schools just seems weird.

Yeah - I think this "salary cap" might be what reverts them back to their historical status.

Lots of reports in the past week that Texas State is the heavy favorite to be the next Pac-12 member with a likely announcement on or before July 1.

Texas St goes from FCS to Pac 12 despite only having a winning record against one Sun Belt team. Wow.
I guess the thought is that everyone wants into Texas and the state has 4 public systems. The flagships for that are Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Texas State.

ACC's legal settlement with FSU, Clemson reveals 'super league ' escape clause.

If 6 or more ACC football programs want to leave and join a super league, they can do so but still remain in the ACC in basketball, baseball and all other sports.
To do so they would owe $75 million or 50% of the current withdrawal figure.

Don't forget that some of the Big12 and ACC school presidents recently met with Smash Capital re: private equity and a joint football only super league between the two conferences.

This is possibly a plan B, but many of these tobacco road schools really don't want to split up.

Yormark: "I believe we will be the deepest league in college football. ... Fully expect the Big 12 to have multiple CFP bids this season."

Yormark: "As we enter into this new era, I can promise, the Big 12 remains open for business."

Yormark: "I want this to be a global conference. Playing in Ireland is the first step."

Yormark said "there's no value" in a preseason conference media poll, leading to the decision not to do one this year. He feels Arizona State was "disadvantaged" being last on the 2024 preseason Big 12 poll
