Colorado football Mount Rushmore

Think we need to tap the breaks on Prime being on that mountain. 1 winning season and we didn't play for anything. No conference championship no NC. The trajectory is great but as of today he is not yet on that mountain.

For selfish reasons, I would include Nelson Spruce.

How could we leaf him off?

You wood.

Not that it utilizes the categories mentioned by Hokie, but I could support a Mt Rushmore of:
Nelson Spruce
Cliff Branch
Connor Wood
Ashley Ambrose
Angry Pop Tv GIF by Schitt's Creek

I think Hunter and Salaam need to be there based on the Heisman Trophy. I don’t think you can overstate what a big deal that is.
I think you can.

Yes, it's the most prestigious individual award in CFB. you could argue that it's the most prestigious individual award in sports. Yes, it got CU some great publicity. And, it's an individual award in a team sport. I think the "big dealishness" of it is often overstated.

I'm having some trouble reconciling "you could argue that it's the most prestigious individual award in sports", with "I think the "big dealishness" of it is often overstated.".

I'll try.

I believe that, on the scale of individual awards in team sports, the Heisman is at or near the top.

And, I think that individual awards in team sports are not all that important (ie. that scale doesn't go very high). To bring this home to the topic of discussion, I believe the conference championships and MNC won under Bill McCartney are far more important than the Heisman trophies won by CU players.

Not including THun is an unserious take. The dude has a legit argument to be the greatest college football player ever.
Yep. When someone who isn't a CU fan is asked what player they most associate with CU now and into the future, the first name out of their mouths will be Travis Hunter.

Tad Boyle gets a spot from me for getting us through the doldrums.

And yes, I understand this is a football Mt Rushmore.

My list is players only, that I've watched play in-person, and had the biggest impact on CU football during that time period.

1) Hagan
2) Hunter
3) Salaam

4) TBD - there isn't a 4th player with the impact of those three. I could argue half a dozen guys here.

I realize it could be a flash in the pan, but Prime has made us relevant after many years of suckitude. I can't count the number of times a week where I wear a CU hat/ shirt and someone asks me about Prime and CU and tell me that they are rooting for the buffs. I live in Austin, home of the whorns, and this is a regular occurrence. It may be fleeting, but Prime saved us and made us relevant. He is on my Rushmore list.

Salaam
Hunter
White

I literally think those three are undebateable.

White finished second in the heisman - and he did it before national broadcasts of any kind when a school like CU got zero attention or hype, and is probably the university's greatest alumni (not "football alumni" - just "alumni" full stop.)

Salaam was the greatest football player CU ever fielded until this year.

Hunter may be the best college football player ever.

There's a lot to debate about who you put up in the fourth spot.
