Colorado - Stanford Game Thread

now let's win this weekend and go back to worrying about getting an 8 or 9 seed.

Looking at it overall, it IS a good win against a team we were underdogs to, and lord knows with our Pac 12 road record- no game out of the Keg is a gimme. Go Buffs!

(And, did I see something somewhere a bit ago where, if we beat Cal and Furd, we're insured a 1st round bye at the Pac 12 tournament?)

Didn't see the game, family activity but nice to come home to a road win. This should put us in a much better situation for the big dance.

Another win or two in PAC tourney would do us a lot of good, this win should get us some better seating and give us a better shot at getting that win or two.

Booker is such a head case in either a good way or a bad way. He's totally about confidence or lack of it.

I'm sorry, but this team has regressed the last 5 games or so. Maybe its the pressure of trying to get the win they think they need to get into the tournament, I don't know.

"It wasn't easy but when you win against a tournament team not playing your best we can learn. We had another draught. We were at the line to go up 10. We have guys that don't feel good about themselves right now and thats good. We're young. Ben and Staltzer and Hopkins were the difference. Got to get Hopkins in sooner."

"Randall as good as any guard in the country, yada yada."

"We didn't pass with flying colors but as long as we can compete I can accept the bad shots, etc."

"We have 21 wins and can have the best record in CU history if we win Saturday. We are going to try to ruin Cal's senior night."

The one thing he said that I liked was that there are a bunch of guys in the locker room not feeling very good about themselves. I'd imagine Ski is on top of that list.

I just found out that Stanford's Josh Heustis is the son of CU basketball player Pancho Hodges. He was adopted by the Heustis family and raised in Great Falls, MT. He must have been born while Hodges was in school.

That was probably the ugliest win I've ever seen. It's more relief than anything. We did everything we could to give that game away. I need a ****ing shower.

They're an ugly team with all these underclass man and they lack an identity. Ill take it. But it wasn't pretty.

my thoughts exactly

When has Ski ever lacked confidence? It's what makes ski ski.
Tonight, at least a couple of times, he was wide open for a 10 to 15 footer and passed them up. Instead, he forced passes. To me, thats a head case. A few games back, he was pulling up and draining those.

but he's not a good jump shooter, we don't want him shooting those shots, he shoots 34% on 2 pt j's

Anyone else find it strange that most people on here seemed to expect a loss tonight, but that most people on here seem frustrated after a win?

Yeah. If people want to be upset about something, be upset about the 27 foot jump shots he took early in the shot clock or how he let the refs get inside his head on the carry and travel early instead of shrugging those calls off.

I'm very relieved. I'll take an ugly conference road win any day. I remember looking at our schedule before the season even started and thinking that we may only win 1 of the last 3. Ending the season with 3 straight road games is just a ****ty schedule to have.

I liked how our defense played a lot better. I thought Gordon's block was clutch, kind of reminded me of Roberson.

Speaking for myself, I was very happy with the win. During the game, I was less then happy though.

Should never feel bad with a win (although there are a lot of areas they can improve as a team).

That's how you can tell that we've got a good basketball program.

In fairness, that was one of the ugliest road wins I have ever seen. Unreal we beat a Big Dance squad in their house playing that way.

It was about 10 ugly minutes. Otherwise, they played well tonight. I've got few complaints with the first 27 minutes. Nothing much good to say about the next 10, and then I'm hugely happy with how this team responded when it found itself down 3 on the road entering crunch time.

That was an experienced team that we beat on their home court. 4 out of 8 of Stanford's players with more than 3 minutes of playing time tonight are graduating and we get our whole team back next year plus some.

the response was highly encouraging, although wasting numerous chances to blow it open while up 8 and letting it reach that point was concerning.

I'm also just not a fan of how we managed the last 13 seconds. How do we decide to just stand there on D with 13 seconds left? Way, way way too much time left to do that. And, of course, instead of fouling with 7 seconds left we nearly had ourselves an overtime game. Percentages tell me the chances of Stanford making both ft's, CU missing both, and Stanford finding the time to hit a game winning shot all in 7 seconds is far less likely than Randle hitting a wide open 3.

I got some weird looks at the bar when I stood up and yelled "THE BUFFS ARE DANCING!!!!! THE BUFFS ARE DANCING!!!!!"

You leave out the other possibility of them making the front end and getting an oReb on the 2nd to tie it with the put-back. I think JG had some stats that you go into OT less often if you foul. But despite that (strangely), you win more often by playing defense. Either way, you almost always win (over 90%).

I didn't expect a win but felt like we should win if we played like we are capable. We didn't play like we are capable and still won. Thats amazing. This win was all about defense.
