Love how ESPN.com says with the win we're "Still Alive". Uh, no, we have 21 wins and an RPI in the 20s. We're more than "Still Alive".

This needs to be addressed. Only because I vehemently disagree with you. Dustin has to learn a LOT. To me, he's about a few notches better than Mills right now in terms of basketball knowledge. And I might be overrating that knowledge.
Actually, it might not actually be a "knowledge" thing, but rather an inexperience/nerves thing. He continually makes silly mistakes, be it stupid fouls or silly help defense/not playing the right defense. Hopefully he gets better as he practices with the guys over the summer.
Even given the way we were rebounding missed free throws? Or should I say not rebounding missed free throws?
Gutty win tonight. Not pretty and we left a lot of points on the floor but damn, I am so proud of the fight in this team.

Showed our fight when we let our chance to blow it open while up 8 turn into a 3 point deficit. Lot of teams would fold on the road in that situation. We clearly wanted it more tonight, and that's fantastic considering Furd was in the exact same situation as us coming off 2 losses and being on the bubble.

End of the game coaching sucked. Two bad offensive possessions both coming out of timeouts-the patented run down the shot clock then hope for a miracle (never even hit the rim). Then the parting of the red sea defense on Randell even though a three-pointer or three point play via foul still wouldn't have given them the lead. Then we have our best free throw shooter in-bounding the ball to a player shooting 18% below what he is. Finally again we don't foul up three which I'll never understand and subsequently despite them having little time left and us knowing they need a three we allow a guy who was 4/6 from three a great look to tie the game.

I'm trying to figure this out too. There is a good chance there ends up being a five way tie at 10-8 between us, ASU, Cal, Oregon, and either Stanford or Utah.

this study says you go to OT 1 out 5 times not fouling and 1 out 20 times fouling. It's very close if you win overall going one way or the other right now based on historical results. But most studies I've read on this all seem to agree that the sample size is so small for fouling, that they do think mathematically it's the better option but there simply isn't the sample size to prove it.
Just because he gets the start doesn't mean he would play the most minutes.
XJ has annoyed me the past 3 games for his play and his lack of discipline. When things start going wrong he almost just gives up, starts hacking at players, playing half ass defense, taking poor shots. A demotion would serve him and his attitude well. Tad has done it before and got more out of his team because of it.
Its all about facilities.

Oh, I see. I didn't realize that angle you were going for. Well, so long as we don't get ourselves into a Ben Mills-type situation where we start the guy and then he contributes to us going down 8 points in 2 minutes, sounds good. I'm with you that XJ needs a serious wake-up call. There were flashes last night of him actually wanting to take the ball to the hole and create, though he was waaaaay too often standing at the elbow extended launching 3s.
Tad did that with Higgins and Burks one game when the two wouldn't man up and play defense. Got their attention real quick and we had a 1-2 punch that kicked ass the rest of the season.
that's exactly what I thought at this point.
First world problem: watching delayed games on DVR I miss the realtime AB discussion. Haven't caught up on the 25 page thread and i have work to do.
Nice win for the Buffs. Yes, sh**ty crowd -- but I learned from Walton that the Bay area is where CU grads go after graduation to find out of state jobs. Hope everyone there had a blast.
I'm sure all you Bronco fans were sick of the Richard Sherman talk -- it was way more than I needed.
I'm really excited about this team for next year. I'd feel better about our chances in the coming tournaments if Booker's turnovers were down (he had some really lazy passes) and Gordon was playing stronger inside.
This is like the debate over Tad recruiting a shooter. We may disagree with him, but this is the way Tad wants it done. He prides himself on his defense. He wants to instill that discipline in the team that they HAVE to make the stop every time and that we won't be bailed out. Personally, I'd foul, but I see his point on this one. Like JG said, it's too small of a sample size so I'm not sure it's something you can really get upset about.
I think it's inexperience. He's having to adjust to a MUCH tougher matchup than he faced in Texarkana. the game is moving a lot faster and it's also harder for freshmen big men to come in and contribute. Even top 100 guys don't put up great numbers their first year (Buff fans really were spoiled by both Spencer and Jelly's frosh years). That said, I've seen the light come on for him the last few games. He's still making mistakes, but they're aggressive mistakes - which is something I can live with. Honestly, I've been pretty impressed with DT and think he's going to be a lot better next year.
This this this this this this this 100 times this. The team needed this one. You know they were feeling the pressure. Will said it best on twitter - "that wasn't an execution win, that was a toughness win". The team had to grind it out. It honestly reminded me of the magical Pac-12 tourney run two years ago. We're going to need more performances like that, and hopefully the team saw that they were capable of it.
every time they showed this, it reminded me of the Duke score with the crawl showing "Duke over 5 minutes without a FG"
I'm a Bronco fan and really actually like Sherman. I think he is pretty funny. I don't like the interview when the game is actually happening but during timeouts it is fun. I didn't need 400 shots of him and Luck in their seats though.
If you finish in the top 4, you get a bye. Right, now we are right there with UofAnus, fUCLA, AScc. Just need to take care of Cal. They have been terrible lately too. I likeour chances Saturday.
Does seem like a prime time for them to have a give up game now that their NCAA tourney chances are just about gone.
While I agree we've been spoiled with some of the freshmen performances we've seen in the boyle era (robeson and ski were pretty good too as frosh) the one thing that makes me kind of nervous about thomas is his D, and to a lesser extent his rebounding. I know we can't have a roster complete with swiss army knives, but I see a lot more room for improvement and ability to contribute in different ways from fletch and hopkins than I do with thomas. Not ruling out that he could become a real nice offensive player one day but I think his ceiling is lower than the other two.
And for all the bitching by some here and most at rivals about the lack of a shooter, the thing that was really missing during this skid were stops. I think hopkins and fletch both have the ability to become good defenders. Don't know that I can see the same with thomas.
That may be true, but that also could be because JHop and Fletch have REALLY high ceilings - as in "All-Pac-12 and NBA Draft pick" ceilings.
I still think with DT we can expect him to be Austin Dufault with a better offensive game when he's done.

Missed the game, happy with the win. I wish we would get out in transition much more. Also wish XJ would play some inside out basketball, post him sometimes, depending on the matchup. I think he'd make more of his 3s that way, some folks start feeling it after seeing it go through the basket a few times. Thought I heard Tad liked his team's to run and press. I love that kind of basketball, why don't we do it more? Makes sense to me since we struggle in the half court.
